Mav, a life time ago my then job brought me into regular contact with the girls working Acland St and other parts of Melbourne's (then) most infamous red-light area, St. Kilda - standard answer to how long they had worked the streets "about 3 months".
When my first ever BG (Dollhouse, Clinton Plaza) said she had been working bar for 3 months, well the double-take look on my face must have been priceless. I remember thinking then that some things truly are universal. Enjoy.

Mav when I 1st went to Australia (1982). I lived in St Kilda in Mitford Street, just up from the Village Bell.
Spent 10 years there, a lot of places are gone now (The Earls Court) on the Esplanade, Bojangles (Near the Beach) plus some other dodgy pubs up the top end of George Street.
Used to drink mainly in the Windsor Castle in Phraran, The Railway plus a few more.
Great times were had there for the time that I was there.

St Kilda has changed quite a bit from the 80's
Trendy spot now...it's where all the "beautiful people" flock to when the weather is good.
l've only been here for 5 years mind.

A long, long time ago, in Pattaya , I stopped in a beer bar around Soi 3 in the early afternoon. About 4:00 PM, and the ladies were all putting on their makeup and readying for "work".
I ordered a beer and chatted briefly with an older gal. (owner/mamasan)
Immediately, I noticed a dazzling, beautiful young girl, sitting by herself...in a corner of the bar, away from the other ladies. She was really a cutie, had a great body, and looked like she was very young. (17 or 18)
I asked the (mamasan) about her, and she replied..."Oh, she first day at bar. She come to Pattaya yesterday...first time". I remarked about how young she looked and mentioned (jokingly)...14 or 15 years. Laughter from the girls, and mamasan called the young girl over. With some (english) coaching from mamasan, she told me her name was "Ann", and she was 23 years old.
She was extremely shy at first, but warmed a little, as I bought her a LD (orange juice), then had her "ring the bell". Only 5 ladies and no customers, so a cheap trick. 5555
After a couple of hours worth of beer and orange juice, and teaching her to play the dice game (with mamasan's help)...she was relaxed and enjoying her new position. Her "sister" (I think her mom's sister) got a phone call, and passed the cellphone to Ann. Turns out, it was her "mom". calling from her village, to see that she made it to Patt's OK. (she didn't have her own cell phone yet....but, I'm sure that will change soon.5555)
The mamasan began to push and suggest that I barfine the girl, and explained to her, that I was a good farang. And, of course...had a "good heart". Ann, reached over and touched my hand,, while nodding her OK.
Without going into more details...let me just say, that I was having flashes of being a "Tin Tin". You know, the "fresh" girl from the farm, etc. 5555 My "lethal weapon" was on full alert, too. 55555 Geeeeezzzusss!
She had every "earmark" of the brand new girl....and I'm sure that this was her first day in the bar.
Hey, they all have a "first time", sometime...right?
