Tavel by my self to Phuket
Hi Folks,
Is it a good idea to travel by my self to Phuket?
(I'm looking for a good nightlife when visiting)
I'm talking about January 2 2008 to January 10 2008.
Thanks.

Should not be a problem at all. Make your first sdtop an expat bar, MTB, Hells Bells, Dingos and others to choose fromj, all owners and BM's present will give you all the help you need.
Trust me, you may arrive alone but, that wont last long!
Have a great time.

Welcome to the board.
You will be fine. Most board members here that visit Thailand nightlife and P4P travel alone. As noted head for MTB and the others and you are sure to meet members of this board. .... and the girls .. the will make sure you meet them.

.... looking at the dates you have picked, make sure you book your hotel as well in advance as possible.

Great idea to travel alone. I enjoy it. Don't need to coordinate w/anyone time frames of what you are going to do.
I am generally introverted (from Massachusetts USA- Mass-hole), and had no problems meeting new people in LOS.
Have fun!

Not a problem, you will be fine. Just go to the bars BMs frequent like MTB, Hells Bells Bar, you will get new friends very fast.
I always travel alone.
You can use this site as a guide, Phuket Bars, Bar Guide, Phuket Entertainment Guide, Thailand

Welcome to the Board, Yair!!
You have chosen to come to Phuket at the height of peak season. So there will crowds of people there, and it is easy to get lost in the crowd. Go to MTB, introduce yourself to Nicke, and don't be shy! Try ringing the bell, and you will get loads of attention. There are plenty of girls to go around, even at peak season. If you are a young guy and/or very handome, you can take your pick. If not, don't be too picky then. Remember, it is all about the fun, and no one knows how to have fun better than a BG!! Pick out a lively one and let her show you the way!!

No problems at all.
I've been twice by myself (April and Sept) and am going again in by myself in Dec (I've got the fever). The only times you're by yourself is when you want to be. There are plenty of women who want to talk with you and lots of expats that you can sit down a have a beer with. I have a great time going alone and meeting new people, sometimes it's better than going with friends.
On a side note, MassMoose, I too am from MA, not living there right now, but it's got to be a great time. Sox about to sweep, Pats undeafeted, BC #2, Celtics with the new Big 3! That was the only thing that killed me in Los, couldn't find a bar to watch good old american football, although that's a small price to pay to be in Los!

I have just returned (booohoooo) from my 3rd independent trip to los. This is the first time I have frequented MTB and others, mainly because I had never read this forum.
All I can say is get there and get there now!
GO straight to MTB, do not collect $200, go straight to MTB.
Meet Nicke, and a few of the other gems he has stored away.
Now I am just going to sit in a dark corner, cry and suck my thumb!

The 'LOS Blues' does actually physically hurt I know. Just have to start thinking of saving and planning your next trip over. At least you didn't have to go back to Rochdale.

The best way I have come to deal with the dreaded Los Blues is to try to recreate Thailand on a weekend night.......
What I do is I go out to a really busy shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon, to recreate the pact streets of PAtong with annoying tourists (At the moment this is very effective as lots of the shoppers seem to speak foriegn too!). Then I go to a local ex-service man's club, where the locals have 'tashs and seem to spend every waking hour there, debating world issues and drinking cheap beer. (Although Kilkenny is not served)
After going home in the early evening, I sleep until it is dark, then I go down a local Thai restaraunt, passing drunk 20yr olds, to have Thai food and drink singha and sangsom+coke. I then practice my Thai with the staff and make shit jokes that only 10yr olds laugh at. I then ask what one of there fines will be (MAybe speeding ticket, immigration costs or any other minor offence any of the staff have had recently.). When more drunk I offer to take one to a club/home, to which they say they will met me later, but never do. Before leaving the restaraunt at closing, and getting in to an over priced Taxi home, with an abusive driver, who is only interested in my money and if im gonna puke in the back.
Ahh, just like Patong, see!!!!!

No need to worry.
It's probably the best to go to Patong on your own. On your first evening.. head for MTB and from there things will start rolling. After this trip... you will have big doubts when someone offers to go with you to LOS.
Cheers,
Raval

There's no hope is there? I told your Mother that sending you to that 'Special' school was a waste of a fiver a month.
Pop up to Sleaford while I am there, the center of the known Universe. Let me take you by the hand and take you through the streets of Sleaford. I'll show you something, that'll make you change your mind.

I asked this same question on the board 6 months ago!
No problems at all... Met up with a few BM's every night, went around the bars. Played some pool druing the day...... BOOK NOW!
I have just booked my next trip in February and I am travelling alone. I know tho there will be lots of BM's there and lots of BG's also
Don't think too hard just book your ticket....... Enjoy

Its an utterly brilliant idea mate. On your own or with a mate.
I had my 4 nights in Bangers in January and found new holiday mates within hours.
The cool thing about expats, or other travellers with a mind like your own is they are easy to find.
Enjoy mate.
Cant wait till march!
Did LOS for my honeymoon.......now going with a mate for my after marriage....divorce.Wonder how many folks did that? I must be the first....
