Hi Rikkky,

I have found at any most bars even the ones with alot of BG's a simple request to the mamasun or any of the bar staff that you want to be alone to just drink a beer or take in the sights around you is always met with a smile and the word is passed along to the ladies. They still may send you a nice smile from time to time but you do get to enjoy your down time to recharge the batteries and count how much baht you have left for the rest of the night.

To avoid 'hassles' pop down to 7-11 or Family Mart - buy your favorite brew or why not a sampling of each ... go back to your hotel room, put the beer in the fridge and the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door.

I don't find bars to be much hassle. It is using the toilets at the back of the Sois which can be a challenge.

My strategy is to wait for a few farangs w/out Bg's to walk toward the back toward the toilets. This creates a nice block to walk behind to try to prevent being tackled by bg's to drink at their bar etc.

In very difficult situations a reverse pivot has come out of my bag of tricks also to get to where I want to go.

The attention is not that bad overall though.

As a longtime subscriber to Soldier Of Fortune-- read Issue #1 when it first came out, I was in the USMC-- let me add:

To keep on-topic: Is the OP's goal to travel thousands of miles to an exotic destination, and then drink alone? Farangland would seem to offer an infinite number of watering holes in which one can be ignored by the distaff element. But to each his own, I suppose.
