Same Same Kamalalala apparently I was told last night at a restaurant I can't remember the name of, so will call it 'No Name' restaurant.
At 1750 cold bottles of beer 'tops attached' can be put on the table.
At 1753 Music can be played and bottle openers put on the table.
At 1755 Peanuts are allowed to be put in little dishes. No nibbling though!
At 1756 You can handle, but not use the bottle opener.
At 1758 A Police car will drive past the bar with a MIB moving his finger from side to side and tutting!
At 1759 Bar owner is allowed to put whistle in mouth.
At 1800 Whistle to be blown vigorously, Bottles opened.
1801 Order next beer.

I must say i was caught by it last night in Bangers, was in New Wave around 6.30pm, finished my first beer and requested another one, was told no, i thought she meant no corona left, but she meant no beer at all, and it seems to be in full force as i have not seen a beer all day(apart from the 8 i had in my fridge for breakfast).
All in all a pretty boring time in Bangers for me with no beer.

From today's Phuket Gazette Online- obviously the bar closures had the desired effect, encouraging a huge turnout- NOT!!
PHUKET: Advance voting held in Phuket on Saturday and Sunday for the March 2 senatorial election saw much less interest among out-of-town Thais than before the parliamentary election held last December.
PEC Director Supap Akkam told the Gazette that of 30,291 non-Phuket Thais registered to cast advance ballots in the province, only 7,301 (24.1%) chose to do so. Of those, 2,968 voted on Saturday and 4,333 cast ballots on Sunday.
This was in sharp contrast to the weekend of December 15 and 16, when 25,956 voters (more than 85%) made their way to Phuket Community Hall on to cast absentee ballots for the December 23 general election.
K. Supap attributed the low turnout to the fact that canvassing activities of Senate candidates and their supporters are highly restricted compared with those for candidates running for parliamentary seats. Similarly, low turnouts were common across the country, he said.
There were no reports of any violations of voting rules during the advance voting, he said.
“I hope at least 60% of registered voters will turn out to vote next Sunday,” he added.
There were also 4,186 Phuket residents who cast advance ballots over the weekend: 1,918 on Saturday and 2,268 on Sunday. Most were people who will be unavailable to vote next Sunday.

Let's calculate the economic loss.
I'd guess each night in just Patong/Kata/Karon/Kamala there is 30 million baht turnover related to bars/booze (excluding ladies/boys/ladyboy fees). Let's say we lost 2.5 nights of trade. So the kapkin math on each got-drunk-at-home-not-at-a-bar vote cost around 10,000 baht loss in trade. That's big money in this parts of the world.
