Patong Nightlife....WeekDAY VS. Weekend

Greetings all.

I'm headed to phuket Mar.4

Okay, plans are coming in to focus now. My Dad's booked us at the Holiday Inn in Patong. How would u folks rate this place. Too

expensive? BG friendly? I'm guessing a place thats not chain affiliated might be a better deal, but I'm not sure. Any info wouldn't go to

waste.

I'm wondering if there are bar girls on phi phi don as well as patong?

Not many BG on Phi Phi - mainly back packer falang girls better to BYO BG.

If so, which scene is livelier?

PATONG - by about 3000%!

Also, I was planning on staying in Karon.

Some action in Karon, but main partying in Patong - if you need to 'retreat' every night then factor in taxi costs or rent a bike/car.

I like the idea of going to the party,

and then being able to retreat to someplace quiet.

Welcome to the board.

If you plan on going out every night and like to Party, you will likely find yourself in Patong most evenings and as I am sure you have figured, Karon is a better place to retreat during the day.

I have stayed in Karon a couple of trips and found myself going to Patong nearly every night. In that case consider the costs. A Tuk-tuk/Taxi to Patong is 300 baht each way and if you take a girl home she will expect her ride home paid, so add another 300. That is nearly a 1000 in transportation, just for the nightly partying.

If you stay in Patong, you may find yourself commuting to Karon some days for the retreat at an expense of about 600.

Not talking a lot of money here, but something to consider.

Holiday Inn is a very nice hotel, well situated but unfortunately for you unfriendly towards overnight guests.
Cheaper, but good hotels that entertain girls overnight can be chosen from

Salathai Hotel
Baan Yin Dee Resort Boutique Hotel ( a little way from Bangla Rd)
Club Bamboo ( a good walk also from Bangla)
Patong Bay Garden Resort
Safari Beach Hotel

You can find reports for these, and many more hotels here

To book any, or check them out most appear in the hotel link on the main page of the forum, or Google them.

One other main consideration i found in picking a hotel is that TGs do not like to walk, so you still may have to factor in tuk tuk expenses!

Holiday Inn is a great hotel.
I think they started to be guest-unfriendly after my stay there in 1998 with this stunner from a go-go bar in Soi Sea Dragon.
She loved to swim in the hotel-pool just wearing the smallest bikini I have ever seen.
All the familys from US and especially the guys were only looking in one direction the time we stayed there.
I guess many wifes complained to the staff about this, and then it became guest-unfriendly.

This is a true story for sure, but don't tell my wife when we come to MTB next month.

I am not sure about Patong Bay Garden.
I have only stayed there once, in 2001 with my ex-girlfriend and three children.
But they had one security-guy there who thought he was the sheriff in town.
The first night we came back from Bangla he started to yell at my ex-girlfriend, who is Korean, and wanted her to go and talk with the reception.
He should be happy to be alive after my ex understand what he was thinking.

The best hotel I have stayed at except my favorites in Soi Sansabai.
Great staff, guestfriendly and most important close to the beach and Bangla Rd.

Cheers!!!

Holiday Inn: I stayed there two years ago at the Busokan wing. I did not have any problems bringing my BG back. I think it is harder in the main part of the hotel.

I have to agree with the thought that the thai ladies hate walking. I hate the tuk tuk scene with a passion. What i usually do is do a bar hop from one bar to the next until i get back to my hotel(the salathai). which breaks up the distance for the girls.
