Drinks in 'beer bars'

Let me just say that, I found mostly everything I need for my 1st trip to Thailand, (Phuket that is) on this forum. The advices and stories are truly educational. Can't wait till Sept 5th when I become a temporary residence of Phuket, 2 weeks is wayyyyy too short. I have one minor issue, I don't drink beer. Living in the east coast of the U.S. I tend to start w/ a 'Long Island Ice Tea' "White Russian' , 'Pina Colada' and go on from there. For those forum members in the knowhow, will I have to change my drinks preferences? Actually, I'm dying to try some local drinks. Any input will be great.

Any of the bars will be able to make you a cocktail of your choice. If not just move on, there are loads of choices to made when it comes to bars.

Long Island Iced Tea? You don't like to waste any time, do you? Get things started with a bang!! I've had Long Island Iced Tea there, don't think they'll have trouble filling any of your orders. Have fun!!!!

Iced Tea - no problem! I can see some confusion over Iced Tea Long Island, may be better to stick to Pina Collada, or go local and drink Mai Thais!

Long Island Ice Tea, no problems we make heaps of them in Playschool, as I'm sure other bars do as well. Yes Mai Tai's and a green looking concoction called A-GoGo Juice also sells well.

Mai Thai Cocktail is our best selling one but Pina Colada or Long Island Ice Tea is no problem.

Smile White Russian

BTW a White Russian is 2 ounces vodka, 1 oz Kahlua, 1 oz. light cream.

Pour the vodka and kahlua into a glass of ice cubes, stir and then top it off with the cream.

Should be easy enough!!!!!!Cheers!

Gentlemen I thank you, I see my small dilemma was nothing at all. Everything is a go for my trip, now, all I have to do is look at the calendar and that alone puts a smile on my face.

Laem Sing Tea, Kamala Cosmo, Sex on Nai Yang

The drink list at my restaurant I have tweaked some recipes and made drinks that refer to local beaches and landmarks. Our Laem Sing Tea is rum, vodka, gin, triple sec, lime juice with cranberry juice.

I also make this drink from butterscotch shnapps and baileys that's fantastic and you can't get it anywhere on the island.

Apart from a visit to Mai thai bar (soi eric) and Love bar (tiger complex) plug..plug
I would suggest a visit to the Cocktails & Dreams bar also underneath Tiger disco (tiger complex) bear in mind its famous for ladyboys so if you think you can handle that i'm sure you will have some great drinks there if beer aint your thing , i dont drink much beer either as i hate having to piss the night away so i tend to stick to Whisky & coke or Vodka redbull with a few Tequila's in between
Here's a link for the cocktail bar i mentioned http://www.kohjoy.com/cd/drinks/index2.html

What is the recipe of Mai Thai Cocktail (not the original one that you find in Cocktail books but the ones that are served in MTB) ?

Bobby

Here in Australia we call that drink *slippery nipple*
1 oz butterscotch
1/2 oz Baileys
Pour Butterscotch into a chilled shot glass
Carefully float Baileys over top[/quote]

We make slippery nipples over here aswell but a little different, All you need to do is fill a shot glass 4/5 full with sambuca and then just carefully float the baileys over the top,
I think ill make one now

Urtheman, what's the name and location of your restaurant. I'm staying at the C&N Hotel.
Sorry butterflyblonde I'm not into that , to me there's nothing better in the world, than sleeping and waking up next to a beautiful woman.

You dont need to fcuk them , just go and enjoy some of the drinks on offer .......sigh.......honestly ...
I can only assume from your comment that your are DEFINATELY a newbie to thailand , many people (even couples) go to Cocktails & Dreams and Soi crocodile (ladyboy street in patong) for a few drinks , many of these people are actually hetrosexual and DO NOT have sex with the Katoey afterwards , they just go for a few drinks , laughs and entertainment , similar to the fact that many people visit the Cabaret shows to watch all singin' all dancin' ladyboys.
What are you scared of dude ? they wont bite you or anything
ps...homophobe alert .....homophobe alert ...ooooohhh scary ..hehe

Hi Patrs,

I must disagree with you on this one. There is one thing MUCH better than sleeping and waking up next to a beautiful woman............ That is sleeping and waking up next to TWO beautiful women And it can be done in LOS

Have fun

Question for Nicke

Nicke, how do you make that Fishermans Friend thing that you have at the bar? Or is the recipe a closely guarded secret?

No, it is not a secret. I learned this from Jan (Valhalla) who did it first. Now other bars have it aswell.

Two white packs of fisherman friends, 70 cl vodka and top with soda water until you have one liter. Maybe good idea when you have party with friends.

Yeah, I think fisherman friends is pretty healthy and refreshing shooter

So when someone feel sick or having a cold I recommend a fisherman friend shooter once a hour or more.
