Rock City not a bar or club?

How come all the bars are shut and clubs like Taipan, Baya Beach...yet I've just passed Rock City and it's open as normal and the band playing?

Were they selling alcohol and having customers or were they still setting up and maybe testing equipment?

Quite busy when I passed it before. About 12 at the tables outside; girls on the door; band playing and looked busy inside. Don't know if they were serving alcohol though.

I just passed it again 10 minutes ago as I had to take someone back to Kalim and it looked like they were closing, putting chairs on tables and the band were coming out. There were some staff/band members sat at a table outside and they definitely had a bottle of whiskey on the go. Maybe they brought it in though.

What's the deal with restaurants? Are they allowed to sell alcohol on "dry" days? Does Rock City sell food? Maybe they can get round the law if they sell a sandwich or some peanuts! Maybe they just opened and only served soft drinks like the pool bars on Bangla.

Rock City is registered as a restaurant - says so on the Check Bins and yes they do do serve food - so thats why they can stay open. Legally restaurants are NOT supposed to serve alcohol on 'dry' days but plenty do
