holiday moments

Hi
I was just thinking about a few things that happened during my stay in patong during March/April. Moments that will just stick in my memory for ever.

- Slowly walking back to my guesthost with GFE(5 weeks!!) in tow after really good night out and one drunk English guy bumping into me, apologising with "Sorry, I'm getting too old for this" and me coolly replying "you and me both". You had to be there really...

- Sat opposite Jungceylon having a drink people watching just before 10am opening and watching a fa-rang running down the road wearing just a white towel (no shoes, just the towel). He was collered by the police a few hundred yards past Jungceylon. Hell knows what he had been up to.

- Enjoying the night in Soi Easy. When I heard the BGs saying "oh my god". At the opposite bar was a girl pole dancing and getting quite naked. Shortly after the music stopped, BK police I think, 20,000THB fine for bar owner and a stiff warning to the rest in Thai over the PA.

A bang on the door of my hotel room on the morning of december 26th 2004. Me and the girl I was with woke up to find out a big part of Patong was destroyed.

Another bang on the door. Wake up at 6 am in the jungle near Chiang Mai. Had to break down the back wall of the guest house to escape from the floaded river. 30 min later guest house was gone.

Many thanks to the people who rescued me and other tourists when we where on a canoe trip in Samui and where hit by a storm. I will never forget clinging on to sharp rocks for 2 hours.

Not in Thailand..... but I will never forget..... the time I hired a boot across lake Malawi and in the middle no petrol anymore because the people we hired from miscalculated the amount of petrol. Everybody got seasick and we had to peddle for hours-

And when I think about it..... There was also a shipwreck in Sri Lanka, and a flöaded river in Malaisia... So the moral of this.... better not go onto or near the water with me.

But besides this...... the positive things I remember way outnumber the negative ones.

And I am a little bit drunk right now, sitting in my hotel in Hamburg(Thai lady owns it) and reading this forum.

Shower okat Raval but still can be dangerous when you slip and fall as I did at Areca Lodge in Pattaya on 27/3/08. Still can't sneeze or cough because of broken ribs.
Every time I do it sets me back 2 weeks at least with the ongoing pain.

I try to come the second week of August for 3 weeks. But relax....55555 I also had some very memorable "good" experiences. In fact they outnumber the bad ones by far.

Cheers,

Raval

So, you'll be well out of Thailand by the 11th of September, then?

Hmmmm..... yes. But my misfortune always had to do something with water, not with terrorists.

I hope it stays that way.

Cheers,

Raval
