Where is a good place to party at Kata Beach?
Hey all
Have been reading the forum posts with interest now for awhile, and thought I would give it a try myself. I am heading to Thailand for the first time (yay) just after Chrissie this year, and am staying (according to the travel agent) at the Alpina Phuket Nalina Resort & Spa at Kata beach. Does anyone know anything about this place - is it nice to stay at? Hmm, but I deviate from the original reason of my post. What is Kata beach like as far as nightlife/clubs/bars go? Is there anything worth mentioning down that way or is one better off going to Patong? I look forward to your replies

Kata is no Kamalala for nightlife, but it has an ok set of bars. Growing out every year. The disco is for sale so not sure. Sure it will be a lot different when you shown up in 8 months.
The hotel looks nice from the outside but slightly odd area. But that is the problem with Kata. Unless you are staying at the massive club med, then you are pushed back off the beach. So you will need to take a shuttle to the beach.

there is a brace of beer bars in Kata and a few other places about which you can cover in a half hour walk....if ya don't like what you take the 15 minute tuk tuk ride to patong...if ya don't like that your on your own

Go to Patong Beach
stay in Patong Beach and if you are looking for cheap Hotel and clean at the same time ( and again ) very very close to the Bangla Road ( Bars and Tiger ) Go to YorkShaire INN Gest house Yorkshire Inn at Patong Beach, Phuket hotel near nightlife bars and discos in Bangla you will love and take the duble room with 990BHT only !!!! and don't forget to visit our friend Nick in Mai Thai Bar

Thanks for the responses guys and girls...
Is there an O'Toole's irish pub at Kata - someone mentioned to me there was one there but I can't find anything about it. If there is one there, is it far from the Alpina?

There is an irish pub that looks ok about a 2 minute walk from that hotel.

Arfur O'Tool's is next to Kata Centara. Same road as the Alpina but at the Club Med end.
