Tiger or Tai Pan disco?
Opinions on which one you like better?
I have been to both, some contrasts: Tiger charges 240 bht (with two drinks) Tai Pan has free entrance. Tai Pan closes later than Tiger. Tai Pan has more oldies music while Tiger is more modern. Tiger has better lightning, laser equipment etc. Is it just me of are places slowly close later again? Yesterday Tai Pan was open really late. Both seem to have a far number of freelancers, anyone want to share experiences? By the way I like both of them. Last edited by Older man : 06-05-2008 at 16:48.

Just a good ole soi bar where you can have a chat with yr mates without shouting and paying extortionate prices..... i fcuking hate disco's.... too loud, too expensive and full of in yer face w****s !!!

I like Tiger and I don't like Taipan. I think Taipan has worse music, lighting etc...
But my experience have told me that Thai girls often prefer Taipan, Nightstation, and that place at the end of Soi Croc. Are Nightstation and the place in Soi Croc still open? or have they been shut down?

Nightstation was more for Thais, when I was there I were the only farang in the house and the place was quite full. But was good fun...
I have only been to Seduction one time, was about 1,5years ago. Nice layout of the place but the music was no good and only tourist there. But that was a long time ago... Never been to Banana or Club Lime... A strange thing with Tiger is that sometimes you only get beer/winecoolers as the 2 free drinks but sometimes you get anything you want...

Personally prefer Baya to either Tai Pan or Tiger. Was in there last week, really good selection of girls.
Banana now charges farang and thai, guy or girl, 400 baht entrance, 2 free drinks and then 200 baht per drink after that, still closes at 2am, packed with farang fatster birds, Italians and arabs, Fl's are deserting it and the desperate guys in there, will try and grab your lady off your arm!!! one to avoid!

Never liked Banana for the same reason Dodger mentioned... The blokes almost want to fight over girls like they're the only ones in town and too many felangs for my liking.
Personally i like Tiger, plenty of fl's and have always enjoyed the music there... also the layout is awesome..... Been to Baya and Taipan a couple of times over the years but just couldnt get into it, might give it another chance when in town next...

My preferred disco in Patong is Tiger without hesitation, full of freelancers and pretty girls. I have always found nice girls in there and had a lot of fun.
Taipan is a nice disco too. I didn't like like Seduction and Banana the last time i visited too many tourists, many farang ladies too and sometimes i felt like i was back in farangland ! Never tried Club Lime, i might give it a go next time, the music must be quite good i guess...

Club Lime is much more a younger guys place, music is possibly, no change that, is the best in any nightclub in town, not many girls go there although maybe because it is only slowly building up its customer base. Drinks are very reasonable at 100 bht a beer and no entrance fee, unless a guest DJ. Gee went last Thursday, I thought wouldn't be many people in there at 10pm when she arrived, but she said there was at least 50 people and all young, dance wherever you end up standing.

Taipan is a last chance dance club as they refer to it in the UK and the lights are low for a reason!! Beer has been B120plus for a year now which explains why the 'owner' drives around town in a 7 series BMW. I am not keen on him (for various reasons) or the music and haven't been there for over a year (getting busted by tilak with a ST wasn;t the reason- honest!!) There was a rash of pick pocketing in there and the staff didn't give a toss. Again Tiger isn't my scene- loads of FLs but can't stand the music. As for Club Lime and Rock City their trucks driving round town really piss me off with their obnoxious music. OK I'm a grumpy sod and not on holiday so there are plenty of other places that flick my switch- these types of club are OK for the short term visitor but they soon get tired.

to me tiger ain't a great disco,even though,I always drop in once or twice when in patong. shark used to be alot better IMHO, comparing tiger with tai pan makes no sense at all,to me, tai pan is nothing but a pub with a live band in it, plus some ugly fl's,
yes dodger, banana ain't right too many farangs and a shortage of fl's,plus those Italians puuufhhh. 55555 don't know the others.

i dont mind Banana just hate how hard it is to get a drink at the bar
i still have Safari as my#1 i know it isnt everyone's cup of tea but i loved the outside feel, then the DJ in the back house in the wee hours was best hip hop DJ in Phuket when i was staying there

In my opnion, all the clubs have pros and cons in Patong. Some much more than others. But no-one come near perfect for me.
My least favourite is Baya. Although I haven't been in there since back in the day with Dodger and Dunc years and years ago now (well maybe 2!), so could of improved. Just too many of the tight muscle topped, permi-glow, "Look at me", metrosexual styled, "Dude" saying, daddy payed for, holiday makers. Why did you leave us Star club, WHY????????????

I think all of these places mentioned above is OK, pro and cons with all. I like Seduction maybe little bit more, but I havent been there for a long time as Ead has been pregnant etc and now everywhere close early too.
Seduction was great to me, but I didnt look for a FL for the night either, then Tiger disco or taipan would be a lot better choice. Tiger is always over crowded which shows they are very popular, but too crowded for me, so I guess if I was a single guy today I would probably spend my time in Tai Pan. As a married guy, Seduction gets my vote. Shark Club is the best disco/club I ever been to, I miss it.

for goodlooking FL's...Tiger for last chance saloon desperate FL's...taipan for Never again (IMHO only) Banana for rude rip off owners and a euro white trash crowd...Baya...but I will say the music is pretty good in there for a club to go with yer mates....Seduction Best allround for me is still Tiger

Last September my friend took me mainly to Tai Pan. This time only to Tiger as she said Tai Pan was an older crowd. So I guess I like Tiger the best now. 55555
I do like the music in Tiger. i am not one to be on the floor in the crowds. Being in the upper level drinking a beer looking down at the girls is more my speed.

Safari will always be #1 for me. Many crazy mornings hopped up on red bull and vodka. Could be hit or miss depending on police activity but I always liked hanging out till 5 in the morn., then go for a swim w/ my tg back at the hotel with the sun coming up.
Tiger was fun but thought taipan music was horrible and repetitive. Too many slick boys in Baya. Been too long since I was in Phuket but I may need to get back in the next 12 months. JJ |
