Trip report
I am just back to work after 5 nights BKK & 9 nights Patong. So a brief trip report on hotels, bars and go-go’s is in order (without going into any sordid detail). I think it’s useful to recommend places if you can (or otherwise).
Stayed at Majestic Suites in BKK (1425 baht a night). This is my second stay here and it’s great value. Clean and very well located. I spent most nights in Soi Cowboy and best go-gos I visited were Long Gun, Tilac, Baccarra and Midnite. In Nana Plaza I liked the Mandarin table dancing bar (quite a lot of interaction with the dancers). Also saw a pretty good show in Angelwitch.
In Patong I spent 9 nights at Salathai hotel (1600 baht per night). This is about the 6th time I have stayed there and as usual everything was fine. They have free WI-FI internet connection there now which is nice. The connection is not that fast but at least you don’t need to be counting the minutes that you’re logged on. Plenty of massage parlours near to Salathai and that’s a nice way to kill an hour or so in the afternoon.
I used the "P One" bar in Bangla Road most nights. They have a gaggle of gorgeous girls there but you cannot bar fine them which is frustrating. Nevertheless a good bar. Watched the Cup Final there. Played some pool as well at the Aussie bar across the road a few nights. The tables are quite good and there are some decent players there as well. It’s also a good bar if you want to catch some sport as they have about 6 screens showing different sports.
Best go-go’s in Soi Seadragon were Suzie Wong’s and Crazy Girls as they were the raunchiest which surprised me a little as I have always found Patong go-gos a little tame. Suzie Wong’s even had a lezzer show. I have noted the recent heated debate regarding Rock Hard in these boards. I did visit a couple of times and thought the new layout was good and it was not bad overall. But the other 2 go-gos I mentioned show a lot more flesh and the girls were very friendly when they sat next to you…..
Hoping to be back again in November. Keep up the good work with the boards.

I bumped into a few Aussies in the Aussie Bar (not surprisingly). Good blokes (& girls), nice and friendly. That bar does a good trade. Always busy. Good service, clean toilets, good tv's and good pool tables. Not a bad formula for success.

My regular sport watching spot. My S14 team have never lost when I have been watching them there, so it must be a lucky spot for me.
Nice TR by the way.....

Hi Mike, the Majestic looks like great value for BKK! I'll be looking for a place for a few nights in September. I assume it's guest friendly?

Yes it is guest friendly. Don't leave it too late to book as it's popular and quite often full. Nana Plaza is about 100 yards round the corner so it's a great location. The BTS is about 200/300 yards down the road. The only drawback is that the hotel entrance is right on the main Sukhumvit Road and there is nowhere for the taxi to pull up when you arrive. So direct the taxi to either the Nana hotel forecourt or the petrol station on the corner, where he can stop and you can disembark safely. Coming for Suvarnabumi there should be no more than 350 baht on the taxi's meter.
Apart from Nana Plaza, Gullivers bar & Bullys pub (both good sports bars) are within a 3 or 4 minute walk. Also the 2 Hilary pool bars are round the corner, just past Nana Plaza.

And don't forget Soi 7 Beergarden, either. Loads of FLs and no BF to pay.
