Did I have to pay?

If I am looking for a night of entertainment for under 200 Baht it is a toss up between Family Mart and the 7-11.

I like the ambience of the new (and 5th) 7-11 that's opened in Kamalala with it's rather nasal Beeeeeeeeeeeeng Boooooooooooong door chime. I was rather hoping they would open a Family Mart as thier margerine is chlorestorol free which I find important.

On those hot, balmy, humid nights the fridges in the 7-11 right at the back of the store are the ones to rub up against IMHO. Less condensation and a dryer t-shirt than thier Family Mart counterparts.

Licking the windows at 4:30 in the morning as I meander past from a lock-in at some bar is fun and seeing the faces of the assistants as they wake up from thier snoozes on the till with the keypad numbers pressed into thier faces and 100 baht 'One To Call' scratch cards stuck to thier foreheads.

Anyway, I think my cleaners here, so I better do the washing up as she will only shout at me. She can be soooooo tetchy some days I can tell you.

I made the mistake once of insulting a lady by offering her money. She was not on the game and was deeply insulted that I thought she just did it for money. Turns out she actually liked me (yes I know it's hard to believe but its true) She was a Thai living in the UK with her own (before anyone starts, legitimate) business and was over here on holiday. 3 years later we are still good friends, probably as she makes more money than me these days!! Some people get too caught up with the 'everyone's on the game' mentality- there are women out there who genuinely like no frills fun, same same any country.

I agree with that. And in this case the both the guy and the girl are very young which will make it more likely it was simply a fun night for the two of them.

Old men like me don't get that opportunity often with young women, unless of course we pay or it.
