What's you favorite time of the year to visit Patong?
I have visited Patong for three times now, two times in the high season, in January, and one time, the last time, in May.
I prefer May as it is much more relaxed and the prices are better as well.
What's you favorite time of the year to visit Patong?

I have only been in high season 3 times I do really enjoy December and January because i can watch Australia play cricket during the day at the TV combining my favourite things in life sport beer and Tgs, then party at night. I will be visiting in september this year for the first time and will be looking forward to watching the afl finals. Will be interesting for me to see how different the nightlife and weather is in September.

I enjoy it anytime to be honest.
What a like best is getting off the beach after getting some sun and building up a thirst before going for an ice cold beer about 4 oclock and watching all the local people going to and from work and the woman going back to their hotels in their swinsuits and golden tans; watching the talent.
Then a few more beers watching the sun set and the street lights coming on, the crickets come out and the day turing to night and the place just starts to come alive. A great feeling.
Then its back to the Hotel for a quick shower, another cold one as you are having a shave, clean clothes and you are out on the street again ready for some food and a night on the town.
The warm night hair, clear tropical sky bright stars and the loverly warm smiles greeting you everywhere you go and your night is just beginning like a magical mystery tour.
You are then faced with so many choices about, where and what to eat, what to drink, bars to go, clubs to go, who to see etc........just fantastic and a feeling that is hard to describe if you have not been there before.
Those are the best 2 hours of the day for me regardless of what time of year you go.
Enjoy it when you get there.
Regards
Drew

Last time I was there was during August. The weather was alright, barely 3 days of rain in 2 weeks. The place is less crowded than in high season, and my next trip will be in August again ^^.

I always visit at Xmas/NY and Songkran...my two favourite times and those which suit my work schedule (we close our studio over Xmas/NY and I am normally om my way to and fronm Europe at Easter)...apart from that I nearly always drop in another week or so somewhere around Sept/Oct
despite high season prices I like Xmas + Songkran as more of my mates from around the world are visting and I like to scuba dive in the Similan Islands and the season for that is usually Nov-end April/start May......weather is also better between these times....cooler and less rain
I also enjoy a more relaxed week later in the year if I can get away...its nice to see low season too!

I prefer May. It is the start of the low season. You get bargains on hotels and the weather is still decent before the real rain season.

I would have to think it would depend a lot on how many times you have come here.. I would always think that the dry season and the intensity of new year etc is good experience for the newer arrival, they are probably less price sensitive, they would appreciate the madness. Me I dont like the crowds.
If you have been here a couple of times, trying to pick a time when its not going to be crowded but its also not raining big time is probably better.. Your money goes further, theres better service and possibly interactions, but your not paying the rain penalty.
Once you have been here lots of times, done most of the trips and islands, and are here to just relax maybe for longer periods, then rainy season can appeal (the temp is even pleasant if your here a lot) as you can probably slowly spend a month or two here for the cost of a new year couple of weeks.

I am in Patong for 2 weeks a month & I have found January to April the best times, but this year has been so quiet, you can actually ride round the town quite easily. Rainy season being a little too rainy this year, but probably something to do with the crazy mixed up world we now live in. Patong for me is always good, nightlife when wanted, peace & quuiet where I live if wanted. Execellent place !!

Been in Phuket in Feb/March, April, May, July, August and November/December.
Best for me is second half November early December: rai season (nearly) passed, not so hot as March April, and a little dip in amount of tourists (more tourists first 15 days of November and after 15 December).

have been nov, dec, jan, and feb and prefer mid november to mid dec as enough people around to make it jump but not so busy as to keep cursing the stupids every time you have to walk down the road and dodge the buggers taking up the whole pavement dawdling at the junk stalls so that you have to walk in the traffic! rant over

Right now is about right for me. OK, it's raining a bit but nothing like the rain of Manchester. Temperature and the breeze through the apartment is livable without fans or aircon. Saves me some dosh too!
I like going into the bars and actually seeing the regulars and being on first name terms (Not that I know any of thier surnames!) with all the girls.
I will probably head back to the UK in September-ish (Sort out a Visa) and head back here for Christmas this year. I spent last Christmas in the UK and actually found it so bloody commercialised and crass and just the period between buying expensive stuff and being able to buy it a week later for half the price that I really don't want to be there for it.
Having Kamalalala and the Club almost to myself during low season is a highlight for me.

My trips have been in Jan, March, April, May, June, August, Sept, Oct.
Given the choice of which time I'd prefer, I'll always say low season.

I love going in Low Season. The first time I went was in November 2004 and it seemed a bit crowded for me. In July, I feel like there are no restrictions to what I can do.

I have only been May, September, and April(Songkran). Need few more trips and a true high season trip for best answer. Just my everyday preference in things(not a city person really) I would say low season.

I have only been in November, December, Januaary and February. Which basically mirrors the Aussie summer. I would like to visit LOS (Whether Phuket or elsewhere) in the Aussie winter, I think I would enjoy it even more.
I can understand why the Scandy and other Euro BMs love LOS so much in high season, it takes them away from their dreary dark winters!!!

Yeah I suppose it does work the other way! Is that why you always turn up a couple of days after me Caps?
That also goes for some unnamed bg's that may work in Soi Eric............
