After a night in Patong Beach with a Bar Girl I met at a bar near my hotel In Karon Beach...we return to my room, she was a bit drunk...not willing to play in bed I told her to leave...she refused...started to shout at me I tried to tell to calm down relax..Ok no sex no problem just leave...after 10 minutes of this I opened the door pushed her out and did not pay the 1500 bht....my mistake.... as she self-inflected bruse marks on her arms, called the cops and they said I was to be arrested for hurting a woman if I did not pay her 30,000 bht. I told the cops I never hurt her...to avoid arrested I paid...after driving with the cops and her to the cop shop...and back to Karon Circle all the while she is yelling at me. From the begining of that day I thought she was a bit strange..like she was planning something...different then other bar girls..and made a big mistake in not following my gut feelings...My cabie friend In Karon Beach said he knows of her as he took us to Patong early that day..and she has a history of ripping of farlangs...and he said the Cops were involved in the scam... Her name is Mo,perhaps 32 years old always wears blue jeans and works at one of the many small bars near where the taxis park up a short distance on the left side from Karon Circle. I have been to Thailand many times and never had any problems with any girls before..lond time or short..with or with out sex...I feel really bad about the whole thing...please avoid responding to this posting if you want to tell me how stupid I am...Does anyone know of this girl ? Of course the story is not a new one...and ofcourse I feel extremely bad at it all... rage at the girl? no..the only thing i said to her as I gave her the $ with the Cops stand at her side was " I feel very sad for you Mo, you did not have to do this" All of this going on at 4 in the morning at Karon Circle. I am only happy I avoided beening arrested...the land of smiles ? Yes I made a big mistake in not just paying her 1500 bht and saying goodbye...Guys be careful...I was't...

The few times I've ended up with a crazy girl, I always just pay them and tell them to leave, even though nothing happened. I consider it money well spent, just to be rid of them.

Pay them just to leave is the safe bet, but also the hardest to swallow; maybe only the principle.
I have been in a compromising situation twice. Nothing crazy.
Once I paid and forgot, the other I paid 1/2 as it was a LT that turned to an ST.
In the case of the second incident she left updet and I for sometime was worried that retaliation could come.
If paying up and forgeting is not an option for you, I would suggest calling hotel security and ask them to escort the girl out of your room.

A few years back I met a fellow Aussie who had been scammed this way on his first night in Karon - his first night in Thailand - the Karon police were clearly in on it - he was a total newbie though.

Interesting (aka disturbing) to see that it still goes on and that they are prepared to target experienced visitors.

Nothing much else you could do but pay them, malibu, once the trap was sprung. Thanks for posting the warning.

Don't want to sound too intense her folks, but I feel very thankful for the responds to my posting. I love Thailand, Thai women and those slant -eyes...always I am very generous with the ladies..I have been coming here since the early 70's...I am blown out how I allowed this to happen...me such a cool world traveler ?? Not so cool huh? I am so grateful I was protected ... I was worried if I posted this what would happen...I still see her face like standing in front of me...feel it's time to perhaps stop hanging with Bar Girls and Freelance chicks...it's a dream...in the land of Buddha...while most of the rest of the world has a stream of Blood and Tears, Thailand is littered with used condoms...and KY jelly...I hope I can return and continue to love the LOS...and the nest time look into those slant eyes and cleansed of this experience...

Mate dont let it bother you too much... I know its a little hard to say when it wasnt me, but ive also had a couple little incidents but i just pretend im calling the hotel security and then they calm down.....

Dont let put a downer on Thailand... There are scammers all over the world...
Just put it down as a loss and a good experience to hold on to next time your in town and hanging with bg's.....

It could have happened to anyone.... keep ya head up lad...

Was she a BG or a freelancer? If a BG then I would be straight off to the bar for a bit of a chat to the owner.

If she was a freelancer....well you get what you pay for sometimes...

I agree, that's one of the biggest reasons why most guys get girls from a bar and not off the street. They can go back to the bar and discuss with the owner. I would if I was you, unless you think more trouble could occur. Also, one of the benefits of staying in a hotel with decent security. They would normally be in the know and would possibly warn you.....

Also, I'm sure the owner would like to know what's going on as it's creating bad business for their bar. Especially if the name of the bar got out on a forum much like this one

Her whole key to freaken out and getting the police was the fact I physicaly abused her. She put marks somehow on her forearms, the police took pics of her arms and me..and you guys think it's totally alright to just go into that same bar and do what ? Complain about her, ask for my 30000 bht to be returned?...and just what do you think the ladies who run the bar will do when I show up and perhaps the ***** who did the scam is sitting their with her deep stratch marks and along with 4 or 5 other bar girls? The manager or owner will freak out at me and defend Mo the girl. Do you guys who have been involved with Thai women know how important it is for all of them to "save face" with farlangs and very much so in their bars... I am very sure if I show up at that bar they will all either say the whole thing never happened, laugh out loud, and most likely tell me to leave and stop hurting Thai women and might even call the police..i feel the cops, the girl Mo and perhaps even the bar itself all got a cut of the money....Thanks guys for the advise but returning to the bar and complaining is not a plan...I even asked the name of the cops and they would not tell me...she had been planning the whole thing for the start..when I first met her we were in my room for about an hour just talking, then she said she had to leave for a few hours and would return later...i thought this was strange enough but I agreed and she did return but she seems she had something on her mind and could not relax...even when she was drinking...I have her # and can explain where she works. She always wares blue jeans and tennins shoes...I even told her that was lovely but different...my cab driver who is totally supports me and says he remembers the girl..said he will look for her and contact her...I am not looking for revenge though...

That's entirely YOUR decision not to say or do anything. Being a former bar owner, I at times had guys come in to the bar if/when they feel they were ripped off or duped by a specific girl.

I always listened to the customer and the girl. I would prefer to know about it as if it's happened numerous times and others had mentioned it then chances are it truly happened and she needs to be removed from the bar. I actually did that a couple times. Would rather have a good name for a bar than protect a thief/scammer.......

But, if it's owned by a less then moral person, then it's possible that they may not care at all. They may get a kick back for doing nothing about it. You never know. Also, it IS possible that you could go to the Patong police and discuss it and they may be more willing to assist you.

Describing her by "she always wears blue jeans and tennis shoes" could describe 25% of the girls around..... same as saying she has almond shaped eyes and dark hair.

The cops also have their ID names on all the time. Especially if you were in the cop shop etc. You should have been able to get their names from their badges clearly visible. However, if it's such a scam as you say, maybe the entire Karon police are involved....... I doubt it though. Just another donation to their tea fund.

Perhaps you could share with us the name of the bar that Mo works in. If I were you, then I would, at least, attempt to get the name and phone number of the owner of the bar she works at. He may be in on the scam, or maybe not. If not, then he should know what a girl in his bar is up to. If he just blows you off without even listening to your story, and investigating the matter, then I think that he deserves the bad publicity. There are a few crazy girls out there and an owner needs to know if they are working in his bar.

If a girl is so richly rewarded for this sort of scam, then she will continue to do it, and it might possibly encourage other girls to do so, as well.

you shoulda called the Tourist Police. Probably wouldnt have done much but might have changed the outcome as they are used to BG scams. Need to get them there before the local cops as they are already spending your money before they arrive.

So your saying that you picked this bird up and she had the deep scratch marks and bruises on her when you first saw her?

Well call me stupid but my understanding is that bruise marks dont show for a good 12 hours after the injury is inflicted and it is pretty easy to tell whether or not scratch marks have been made recently as in the last 12 hours or so. So if it had been me I would have been telling that to the cops as well as looking at their badge names and noting them down ( as a previous poster said they are HIGHLY visible on every cop) and then telling em to charge me or piss off. Where did this ALLEGED shakedown take place ? In the copshop? If so which one? And whats the name of the bar you got her from? No harm in naming it cause there is probably someone here who either knows the place or even the owners and can have a quiet polite word about it so it doesnt happen again.

Call me a cynic but once again I reckon this is the just another post using the old urban myth of the "BG knocked around scam". Must be getting close to the silly season again.

This is an exact MO of a girl I used to know called 'moo' (long as in pig or watermelon, tho ****ed if I can do the two tones for those) not Mo as in larry curly and.. I really doubt it was her tho as she was a Patong / BKK disco FL and top looking / top girl.. Cant see her working in a karon bar, not enough face in that, she was a high roller..

She used to refuse sex or if agreed only do absolute minimum, flat on back, light off missionary, get it over with.. When she got booted or guys were not forthcoming due to lack of performance she had cop contacts who would come round, and demand high sums for a cut of it. I was told by other girls she simply hated sex and this was her angle.

Returning to the bar would depend on if its a farang owned or thai owned.. If Thai and you have no basis of relationship with the owner then your probably right.. However if there was a farang owner there (which there usually is) I would have been back.

The 'self inflicted' bruises thing does sound kinda unusual tho..

Pig is mu or muu. Daeng Mo is watermelon. The Mo in watermelon sounds very much like the Mu in Pig. Almost the same. I used to wonder why watermelon was called "Red pig." There was a thread from maybe a year ago, where an experienced BM ran into the same scam. Girl refused sex, wanted paid, he threw her out, she called cops. He refused to pay and was hauled in, and contested the matter for several hours. He finally paid something, but negotiated it down a good deal. Paid maybe 10K to keep from spending the night in jail. Sad story this one, but not surprising. Scams against the "rich farangs" are nothing new here. As I've said before: it's about money, it's always about the money, and it's only about the money! That is the nature of their game.

I commend the OP for sharing his story here, a good lesson/warning for others. Unfortunately, an expensive lesson for Malibu.

When it was all happening I was not in the mood to go to jail. This is not an alleged incident!! It all happened in and around Karon Circle. The cop that came to my room had a police jacket on with out a name. The cop who was in the front seat seem to be the head cop, younger cop and I never saw his name on his jacket and I looked and asked for his name. I spoke to both of them and said I never hurt this girl...they never replied. When they said come to the cop shop I guess were headed to the place down the road from the Movenpik Hotle in Karon..as we drove their they stopped long before we got to the cop shop, pulled over the police truck and said " give the girl 10000bht and police will go away, after giving her 10000 bht they took me back to my hotel,we never went to the cop shop... i headed to my room thinking it was all over, the girl comes back with the driver/coop and said give her 50000 bhat and we go away...I got more freaked out and protested the whole thing and then they said come with us now we arrest you, they took my photo...I said wait..take me to the atm at Karon Circle and I managed to get another 20000 bhat out. the marks did not look just like scratch's but like where she rub hard on her for arm, very read but not bloody. Remember I was very freaked out about possible arrest in a Thai jail...I had a plance I HAD to be on in 36 hours or loose my job in Dubai. I believe the girl put the marks on her arm after she left my front door. It took about an hour till she returned with the cops. If I did not get on that plane it was very possible i would either loose my job or have to tell why I miss my flight and the reason of arrest would not sit well with my security firm. The bar is up from Karon Circle on the left side before the Mermaid Hotel. their are many small bars grouped together, I could find it again but did not note the name. I will never forget her face...Please remember this was all going on at about 4 in the morning...the hotel security just stood around and did nothing..all the while she is shouting and yelling at me "stupid farlang, your money will do you no good, you will never sleep now... To complain to the Hotel in the morning would have done no good...Golden Sand Inn. If any one want to give me thier phone number I would be happy to get help and advice and explain where the bar actually is....to write about it all is really too much for me....it makes it all come back..

Total scam.. Not going into the cop shop was the clincher.. You gave in too easy on the 10k without fighting and they realised there was more where that came from..

I have had punch ups with Thais that involved as all getting into the cells for a bit.. And no one paid anyone.. Drunken bike wrecks that cost a couple 1000.. All done actually in the station and with the cops, paperwork and receipts..

Sounds like all thier Christmases at once... they just shook the money tree and the fruits fell..

If you want to remind yourself which bar it was use MapJack (Beta) - Your City Online Karon Beach, and "walk" up Patak East road. Sounds like the road you're referring to...and if you left click on the screen and drag it left or right you can spin the picture through 90degrees and see what is on the side of the road. You might even see someone you know!

Understand the Op not wanting any problems, he wa son holiday, its really annoying that these scams do still happen and the artists get away with it.

My opinion, is the same as Lil, stand up to the police a little bit, insist on going to the police station and ask for the fines book, look confident, appear to know the ropes and keep a big confident smile on your face. Tourist police would have helped, but were not called, okay it was 4am and easier for us living here to say and I realise not so easy to do for the holidaymaker.

No knocking the op in anyway, just offering advice for anyone else in the future who may get pulled into this scam, which I commend him for posting here, it may help someone in the future.

Up Away From The Beach On The Left Side. Up From The Karon Circle. Before You Get To The Mermaid Hotel, Which Is On The Right Side, On The Left Side Is As I Recall It's The First Road That Goes Left, Many Bars Are On The North East Corner. Many Tuk-tuks And Taxi Park Here Also. Again It's These Bars Are On The Left Side Of The Road (puket Road Sp?) Usually Their Are Many Push Carts / Motor Cycle Food Stands Surrounding The Bars With Their Blue Tarps On Them. It.s Hard To See The Bar, But They Are Kind On Above The Road About A Meter With Cement Steps And Thier Is No Door. They Are All In A Row, With Other Small Bars Behind Them. About One Or Two Bars Alone You See A Large Sign That Says "tolets" Mo's Bar Is About 5 Meter Befor The Enterance Of The Tolets. On The Left. Don't Remember The Name. If You Are Sitting At The Bar Looking Out Towards The Street, Not The Main Street But The Samll Street You Will See First Another Bar And To The Right, Or North Is A What Looks Like A Bar That Has Been Close For A Long Time...i Was Sitting With My Back Towards The Tolets. The Celing Is Very High And The Whole Place Look Like It's Made For Somelse And These Small Bars Are Just Placed Thought The Bottom Floor Or This Large Cement Building....thank You....mo Was Her Name, Perhaps Sounds Like That To Me, But Is Really More Like What Other Previous Post Suggeted It Is...i Don't Have My Taxi Drivers # Handing But He Can Help You Locate The Place...i Also Have Her Number But Not On Me Now....will Send It Later...

Where's P4P, there's a good chance to meet ppl who will intimidate you to get your cash. You always
put yourself into a weaker position

I only remember when I found myself a bit drunk in front of an ATM machine in Istanbul with 3 gorillas around me, forcing
to get their 2k Euro out of it, which they charged me after scamming me into a nightclub, putting a girl at my table and having
only a few drinks.

I somehow managed to get at least some kind of a deal out of it...but it was very costly.

Today I'm laughing about it.

There are many unscrupulous bg's here. It's the risks of the business. This story is a good warning to others! And as we all know, the farang never wins here! This is not the first story I've heard where the lady bruises herself and calls the police to scam money from the punter. They know all the tricks, and know the police will side with them or even be in (or be bought in) on the whole thing.

And pissed-off Thai women can be extremely vindictive and ruthless! My neighbor had a fight with a bg last night here. Whacked him upside his head with the TV remote and her shoe! She stormed off, but I wouldn't be surprised if she returned at some point, possibly with some friends, looking for revenge. And I warned him of such, and to be vigilant when in the area where he found her!

I feel bad for Malibu, but as hard as it may be to do the best thing is to put it behind you, as others have suggested. I hope things work out for you, but is best to forget it and be warier next time around mate!

The lesson I have learned is do not pay money to the police without an official receipt. If arrested ask arrange to pay bail only (with a receipt).

If their on a scam a very small bribe will get you off.
Too bad that you had a plane to catch... you lost a bargaining chip there.

PS: Always inform the bar manager of bad girls, let them deal with it.
I had one staff who came good with one lecture from me, she's great now.

I had a ST once that wouldn't leave (my experince was 80% would run out the door back to secure another ST before bar closing etc).

I just had a sort of gut feel she would rip me off something as I slept.

As she slept, I packed my small bag (I travel light, buy everything at destination)

Walked downstairs, paid for the cheapest room...settled into that one.

Waited about 1 hr then got the Manager and Hotel Security to "bounce" her out...Reason - Not with Guest and Name not on booking (Manager came up with that excuse, sharp I thought).

I slept the night in the spare room, just in case.

I is a shite experience for sure what has happened to the BM and I am glad he has shared it with us, especially the MIB connection (cnuts). Some good advice to others in the replies.

Fortunately these stories are few and far between. Certainly sounds like this girl is bad news. I would say always trust your 1st instincts about a girl, if something seems wrong move on. There is alway the next girl who will show you a good time....
I sympathise with the OP with regards to paying the money. At that time of the morning and probably being drunk i think alot of people would panic and do the same . What is the number for the tourist police, think will put it in my phone just in case ?
