Is it all good for Brothas (African Americans)
I look to the advice of you veterans out there as I will be going to Thailand next month. I would like to know if I will have any problems with the girls, bars, clubs etc, as I'm an african-american (black man, Brotha). I hope neagtive stereo types of African Americans or Africans hurts me. I only ask beacuse in Amesterdam I was rejected/denied at one massage parlaor and once on the streets until the girl heard my american accent..... Hopefully the color of green and just being able to dance, and being cool and fun and ready to party is enough for a brotha to have some real fun.

Welcome to the forum.I have only visited Phuket once so far and must admit I didn't see any black guys.I sincerely hope that the colour of someones skin should not stop them from enjoying a beautiful place like Phuket. Enjoy your trip

Thanks Cali. I'm actually in LA also. I don't think it will be a problem money tends to cross all artficial socio-economic/class/race issues. I just heard of Indian guys have some issues. C'est La Vie..I have plan to just kick it and have fun.

Hey Mank10 I was just in Phuket the first 2 wks of Sept for my 1st visit, I had no problems at all. Went to Phi Phi the same result, everyone treated me with kindness. I also behave myself, never got into any dangerous situation. The 2 ladies I had, I treated them with the upmost of TLC, dinner, little shopping trip and numerous ladydrinks. Just be yourself and all will fall into place. Don't play into the negative stereotype they may or may not have of us African American.
You're going to love it there my last evening the bar where I spent most of my time gave me a going away gift, to me that was a big plus in my book.

It is very unlikely that you would have a problem. I did go with one girl once who said she was afraid of black Americans and would not go with one. If she saw you coming, she would probably hide. I thought it was a little silly when she told me this. We were watching MTV and they were playing American rap, which is how the subject came up. Later, after sex, I was singing a little bit of R&B/blues in the shower as this is the music I grew up with and love. When I came out of the shower, she looked scared as a little kid. I have a real deep voice, and used to sing in a blues band, so I sound pretty authentic. She was afraid of me just because I sounded black to her. She begged me to let her go home. I did, but cut her pay. So there are a few odd ones out there, but I think that is very unusual.
On the other hand, a BG who was a close platonic friend of mine, we drank together but never had sex, just friends, she really loved black men. She always looked for the black men. When we were in the disco, she would always get excited if she saw a black guy. When we were at her bar, if a black man came by, she would run out and give him her best "Hello, Handsome" greeting. She said I was the only white man she ever had for a good friend. She also got a lot of repeat business from black guys. She says she likes the way black men talk and the way they dance, better talkers and dancers than white men. I didn't ask about the sex. So, like people everywhere, there are differences, but overall, I think you will have no problem and have a good time.

Well I hate to go against the trend but I thought it was a fairly well known trend that Asian girls tend to not prefer 'Chocolate man' as they often refer to guys of color.. Thats not in any way to say you wont get laid but it is to say that it may cost more than for someone else. I have 2 black mates that come over from London a lot and although we have only half discussed it and they always have a girl it can be an issue and one I hope your not too sensitive about (they are not)...
It has many roots in that A) Thais see beauty in white skin, a dark skinned stunner of an Issan girl can be considered downright ugly to Thai eyes yet a pale skinned average girl is Beautiful.. I guess this goes to the ruling class being Thai Chinese and paler and the working class being sunburnt from the fields. B) TG's are tight as a mouses ear... Size can be a real issue... If you want a laugh buy a Thai condom !!! You can still have a great time and you will still get play but dont let it bother you and break thier stereotypes, you gotta remember they may not have been exposed to to many colored guys.

You will have 10 times more fun then in LA. I'm from that area and every day I feel lucky to be here.The girls are attracted to the color of brown (1000 baht note color). Like people from all over the world some girls might be afraid of you and some might jump you like they do sticky rice and laab gai.

I have now been to LOS 7 times (next trip March 2005) I have observed many TG's reactions to non-whites. . . I have found the majority of them have a particular dislike for Arab (read Middle East) and Indian men. These girls object mainly to (I am sure not all are like this) a very poor standard of personal hygiene. When you have been out on the town all night, drinking heavily, in what can be very warm locations, you sweat a lot. At least I do, and the first thing I want to do on the return to my Hotel with a Lady, is have a long shower. Something that all Thai girls want also. The ladies that I have spoken to say that the above genre of men typically (in particular) men smell rather bad . . . Hot and sweaty, with very un- romantic odours emanating from their 'nether regions'' due to basically not bathing regularly. I have seen many American Negros holidaying in various parts of Thailand, and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Be yourself, and as long as that doesn't mean swaggering along the street doing the Harlem Shuffle, you should not have any problems. Too many Americans abroad, in my experience seem to over-do' the fact that they are from the USA, and this can become rather tiresome to all and sundry that happen to be within earshot. . . Lets face it, if you are holidaying overseas, most people want to relax with a drink and good conversation. Not be bombarded with constant claims to the superiority of the US. Mind you, at the moment, there might not be the bombastic claims of bravado that are traditionally endured by non-Americans. Cheers Pdm3

LivinLOS makes a good point about TGs being "tight as a mouse's ear". If you are too big for the girl, it can put a little damper on the fun. They are mostly troopers and will deal with it, but you can tell when it hurts them and you can bet they won't be happy about going a second round in the morning if they are sore from the night before.
My tip is to always look for the girls with wide hips or bigger than average butt. If you are hung big and pick a girl with very narrow hips, it almost always is going to be a problem. Phuket is an international destinations and we have people from around the world, you will have no problem. We are used to US Navy too and african americans. Many girls actually like black men because they have big d*** but some girls worry it is too big. Thai girls may say chocolate man but there is nothing racist with that, just the way they speak.

LOS does make a good point, but I believe it is more relavent to other area's, if we were talking about everyday "regular" thai society...ie not dealing with bg's and the like then what los is saying is very correct.
My gf has told me about girls who have run off with the chocolate man, and the families were non too happy about it, the way I see things is that like everyplace on the planet some people have there way of seeing things, you can not escape that, but as the outstanding bm's have pointed out the average bg does not care because your money same same. One very nice story relayed to me by a guy I used to work with and be in a wierd biz game together with.. This guy was a German who had grown up in the hardship and rubble of the 2nd world war... The first time he ever met a man of color was an American GI as part of the occupying force. At this point he was eating dirt and literally starving and true to the generous spirit of the servicemen a black guy called this little snot bundle over and gave him a GI ration Hershey bar.
This was the first time he had ever tasted Chocolate and remembers believing that the negro soldier was made of chocolate !!! We live in such a different world from a generation ago.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.. I have never been called chocolate before by anyone other than my grandmother. So you folks make me feel right at home. I wish I could remove my post because I do not care any longer....I'm ready to go and have a ball.
