Your favourite gripe about customer service in bars/gogos

My main one in gogos is you've just bought an overpriced watered down sangsom ladydrink for one of the dancers and you're getting the "what your name" "where you come from" spiel...and then a minute later she gets up and says she has to go dance and is gone for 20 minutes

Why when they are sat with you and entertaining you and you're buying drinks can't they be allowed to skip having to dance? Easy to implement and would mean the customer might hang around a bit longer.

There's an older woman in the bar I drink in regularly in Patts, now shes ok, but after I've had a few and shes after been suppin 100 pipers with the rest of the girls, each time I order a drink she starts in with "one for mamma", that realy f**kin rubs my Rooster up the wrong way, I wouldn't mind but if she hadn't of asked I'd of probably bought her one anyway, there's no problem that way, but as she does, I just Ignore her...

I hadn't been into a gogo bar (for pleasure) for maybe 5 years (no kidding!).

A few weeks ago, I ventured into one of the gogo bars on Soi Crocodile, just to see what it was like and how things have changed.

My first and immediate impression - why are the dancers all fat? McDonalds certainly has a lot to answer for! (This is not just a gripe about dancers - I would say that the majority of BGs that I see in Bangla are on the podgy side nowadays... my ex-wife weighs in at 35kg...)

Anyway, I sat down, checked my drink price and started chatting with a dancer who wasn't dancing. 'Fancy a drink' I ask. 'Sure' she says, tells me the price and I say 'Ok'. She orders her drink and when it comes she says 'cheers', clinks glasses and goes and sits with another customer!!!!!!

WTF??? I know that I'm only Mr average, but she could have lingered for a few seconds

Simon

I agree 100%! I lost my taste for that whole scene many years ago. It was just way too obvious that they were only interested in their profit and not at all interested in your pleasure.

Especially when, and this is my biggest gripe, they're charging you top dollar for a puny measure of a drink. I refuse to drink alcohol in the bars now. It's beer only, where I know that I'm gonna get 330 ml's every time for what I pay. ฿120 to ฿150 (or more) for a 20 ml measure of booze is just a plain rip-off. And even if you spend ฿5,000 in a bar, unless you know the owner and he buys you a drink, you'll never get one on the house from the cheap ba$tards!

My gripe is not just restricted to Bars.
Its when you walk up to the cashier, ask for the bin, wait an inordinate amount of time for its preperation and just as they are about to get out the change, someone asks them a question or calls them and they stop serving you and begin attending to something else....
The other is of course, the blind waitresses of which there are many, you can wave furiously, call out "NONG KUP!", even expose your gentalia and shake it at her, and she will just continue to look through you, dreaming of her next plate of Som Tum I expect...

Agree. Really find it awkward when that happens. And it is not restricted to jut go-go bars. I find if you reluctantly say yes to the mama she will then say how about drink for this one, and that one etc. Next thing you know you have just got a drink for 5 girls and run up a bill of 800bht in seconds.

Ice misers.

Hate it when I order a spirit and only get one, or, two cubes.
Don't they know that ice is dirt cheap and the more they put in, the bigger the drink looks?
A lesson that KFC and McDonalds learnt years ago.

On the other hand, more ice in the glass means less place for coke. Then I hate it when you just get a glass, but not the bottle or tin.

Suggest you ask for your drink to be served in a tall glass.

I guess they are trying to make a living but they should try a different approach....

I think i would prefer if they were being misers with the ice rather than the liquor to be honest. 1 or 2 cubes at a time keeps a drink plenty cool.

More room for whiskey/rum/vodka then

For me it's unenthusiastic dancers like in Rock Hard....

There is nothing entertaining about watching some girl shuffle from side to side whilst looking at herself in a mirror...

On the other side of the coin there is somewhere like Casanovys or Happy a gogo in Patts . In both of these the dancers really interact with each other and are obviously having great fun. Think the fact they like the music helps, or the big bucket of booze at the end of the stage...

How many did you see the barman trying to just give you a glass full of ice and a litle soft drink, trying to squeeze another drink for the next customer out of the same tin. Some nice profit for them. Then you have to demand the whole tin.

Customer Service

Although I'm not sure it would qualify as a "customer service" problem, one thing that does bother me in a bar is if the seating is uncomfortable. If nothing else, at least make it comfortable enough for me to sit around for a while. How hard can it be to find reasonably comfortable seats?

Otherwise, it can be annoying if some girl attaches herself to you the minute you walk in the door, asking for a lady drink. And if three of her friends also show up wanting drinks, then what? Rather than deal with all that, it's often easier just to get up and go to another bar. I't not that I'm a Cheap Charlie, but buying three or four or five drinks at a time can get expensive.

On the other hand, I don't really like to go into a bar and feel that I'm invisible. I guess there's a happy medium somewhere.
Don't ignore me, but don't make me put up with three or four girls, all wanting drinks 30 seconds after I walk in the door.

Agreed.... I'll be generous anyway thers no need for them to press on lookin for freebies all the time, I know they're just tryin to make a few bob for themselves but sometimes they're just way too pushy

Im with ya with uncomforable seatin aswell, my legs sweat somethin bad when sittin on those leather covered stools

Sometimes she doesnt even have to ask, its just there close proximity sometimes lookin up in your face while you buy mamma a drink, begrudgingly, as if to say, where the funk is mine, ya know..Realy winds me up, but at the same time, i usually cave, but only in my most regular of bars..anywhere other than there, and its good luck ta ya..

Could the senior members on this forum make a list on which bars are ok and wich is not? Wich go go is ok and wich is not? Wich massage parlor is ok and wich is not?

Then we could have a list of favorite places. Maybe some bars, go go:s and massage parlors would find that list interesting and change how they treat customers in the future? Or not......... If not the list would be great help for alla the BM:s who are not in Patong every day.

Bad reviews of places can cause serious problems for the owner of the forum !!!!

And good reviews can be a matter of personal preference/choice.

Not only that, but the bars can change from day to day. A place could be great on Monday and by Friday be so so.

The drinks are too weak..
The women dont dance hard enough..
The drinks are expensive..
I cant get enough ice.. Or too much ice..
Or not enough mixers, or too much mixers..
The girls dont talk to me long enough..
except the ugly ones which wont go away..
They want me to buy them drinks..
The chairs are too hard..

waaaah waaah waaah.. Listen to ourselves !!! We in a ****ing country where nubile young women in various states of undress bring drinks to your hand, and sit there rubbing your c0ck, while you half ignore them and blather about whatever you like to your mates, while drinks magically appear every time one gets near empty.. Yeah I hate that too.. Its such a drag !!

Although being ignored by the girls in a gogo is less pleasant it's not so big a deal for me. You walk out and go to the next one.
Too pushy ladies are worse. This one time I enter a gogo, not too many customers about, but ok. I was sat down in front of a dancing girl and even before I sat down she had her but cheeks literally in my face. Within seconds she was all over me "buy me drink mai", "you pay bar for me?", "I boom boom long time and smoke you very good"... I just wanted to enjoy my drink and scout the place out a bit, but miss pushy wouldn't let me. She was pretty ok, and I would take her with me, but it was too much, even after asking her to relax a bit.
I didn't even finish my drink and ran like the wind outta there.

Ok maybe people could make their own personal list of wich bars, gogos and massage parlors they like and not talk about the others who are not so good.

Some kind of, my top 5 bars or whatever.

To quote an old phrase..."One man's meat is another man's poison".

Since people's taste's vary widely, why not just go and discover for yourself?

Isn't that part of the "fun" of traveling to new places?

Ofcourse thats one of the fun parts. And isnt it allways like that, we all have different taste but we talk all the time about what we like and what we do not like. What girls do we like, what kind of underwear should they have, what kind of service is good in a bar?

But we can not name the bar that we like? Every adult person knows that we have different taste but I thought it could be fun to know what other peoples favorite bars are?

But of course I will go and try different bars and look around in Patong and sit down and have a beer where it looks like I will have a nice time, good beer and beautifull women!

what is 2 drinks to the bar, a 80 baht profit
isnt going to happen and dont think anyone should expect discounts at a bar unless you been there most of the night or are a regular spender
