A different style of venue?...
Sawasdee to all. I'm new to the forum, but not to Thailand..
Having lived in Pattaya for 9 months, then Phuket consecutively for another 12 recently, I am planning to return to Phuket after confirming that life here in the west really does suck in comparison to life in Siam.
Upon reflection though, I really don't want to return to the whole Bangla/Patong nitetime scene, as I found it a little repetitive after having lived in Pattaya and Patong for so long. (I got to the point where if I had to sit through the bar girl's standard qualification process one more time i.e. "Helloooo! wha' yor name? Where you come fro'? how lon' you stay Thailan'?" etc, I was going to loose it..)
So anyway what I'm wondering is; are there many places like, or in the same style as say, The Supper Club near Laguna, opening up?
I'm not knocking the red lights of the Sois of Bangla, but personally, I've done my time and I'm looking for something a little more higher end..

WTTB. There is development in many areas, but some sites have stopped work, maybe because of downturn. In Jungceylon there are many developers with stalls selling real estate.

Hi Charger
I know where your coming from, I am exactly the same. Can't stand repeatedly telling every single girl my name my home country etc etc on a night out.
I try to teach them a different approach but it usually falls on deaf ears.
There are now many good places for a night out in style.
In Patong Bed Supper club of Bangkok have opened Sound Club in Jungceylon.
Seduction and Cub Lime are also better options than Hollywood, ThaiPan etc.
Then heading North out of Patong, my favourite, Nine Bar and Lim's Restaurant. Some great parties at this place with DJ's playing quality music.
White Box have some good parties also.
A little further out Soundwave Sundays at Laem Sing beach and Stereo Lab, another favourite of mine. Nearby is Catch, also a good place.
These are just a few of the places I prefer to go out too.

Nice one. Thanks. I'll be sure to look into those venues.
Yeah I tried to get across that a different, more unique approach might actually result in more business, but I just got funny looks.
Now you buy me dink mullyhoo', na?..
hehehe
Think I might stay in Kamala this time too.

Yeah I tried that too, instead of the common 'Hallo Welcaaaaaaam' and the grabbing, try something different. Even just a 'Good Evening'!
I make a point of not going in any bar where the staff grab and pull at my T-Shirt!

Cool place.
I never knew that such a place as Stereolab exists. Why I never noticed any advertisements about it ? Is it a new spot ?
I have been browsing their site and watch some video. Is it busy as that daily, weekends or just in peak season ?
Just got back from Phuket 3 weeks ago but will be back yet again in august. I gotta check these places out. Looks indeed a nice alternative to the Bangla spots which I am frequenting 17+ years now.
Thanks for the info.

Phuket Town (city) also offers a lot of different venues, in Patrong try soi ton or whatever its spelled with Galaxy and other Thai entertainment places. Worked for me when I was single and fed up with Bangla.

Its not a club, its a bar on the beach at Surin, not quite comparable? drinks are expensive, just because they have some unknown guy playing a few tunes.................yep you guessed it, I don't like the place.

Stereo Lab usually packed on Friday night with the Phuket House Mafia crew running the music usually have international guest DJs every month or so. Nice being outside with tunes and beers. Saturday can be busy depends on the night same with most other nights during the week.

Perhaps I'm a little olds cool, but I see red when I'm in most western clubs these days. The club and the staff act like they're doing US a favour!
The word service no longer exists I reckon.
Just this Sat. nite gone, I told the snotty kid behind the bar to get his shit together, after 'forgetting' my drink was a vodka and soda, three times. The little sh*t instantly starts bleating for security into his collar mike and has me ejected.
Being a bit of a Pak Wan I re-enter the club, gave him a serve, and was promptly ejected again.
Was worth it.
I'm happy tnot to go out here these days, and save my fun tokens for a country/scene that's a little less precious.

@ Charger770
ummm.... depends where you go really. I find that the smaller businesses, be it a bar, club or restaurant, tend to be better at customer service as they value your business much more than a larger venue would.
@ Dodger
Didn't realize it was just a bar and not a club. Still, as long as it has a good atmosphere, I don't really mind... after all I am on vacation.
