Thumbs up English - Thai Bar Guide (Phrasebook)

I have a new book available at Mai Thai Bar, it's a English - Thai phrasebook for small talk with bargirls. Lot of words you never will learn from decent ordinary phrasebooks, and it is a funny book. I am sure many girls wish you didnt get hold of this book.

Also som general info about the bar scene, mostly Bangkok; Beer bars, go-go bars, massage parlour, Patpong, Soi Cowboy, Nana, bar fine, sex shows, katoeys, rules to play by.

I also have a few German version too.

200 Baht.

Beware this book for newbies Thai girls, just like most other right-handed people when given a book to appraise, start to flick through it from back to front... and what's in the back? The sections on Girls & Money and Love & Marriage...

Some girls have a real sense of humour which can freak a newbie out when they start pointing out phrases like "Send me money every month" (p162), "Can you buy me a wedding ring?" (p160) and "How many babies shall we have?" (p120)

One girl, when I asked (via the book) if she liked working here (the bar), started pointing to the more poignant entries like "No, I don't like my job", "I need money", "I need money for my family", "I have a a baby to take care of" (all p21) - this gave me a severe case of the "what am I doings" and, although she realized quickly what she had done and found "I'm just joking" (p25) the mood was dead and I backed off. Since then I've avoided asking girls if they like their job and go for the safer "How long have you worked here?" (p17)

What I will do for next time is photocopy the 'safe' phrases for use in the bar on the first night and keep the full book for an LT with whom things have settled and some understanding developed.

Do get the book, by all means, just don't give a complete stranger free-range with it...

Cheers,

K.

You were asking the wrong questions only a few phrases are necessary like;

" Would you and your friend like to go back to the room"

Answer "Yes"

"How much for two girls LT"

Answer "2000 bht"

" Do you and your friend do lesbian show "

Answer "Yes "

It's all very straight forward you don't want to start confusing them with morals.

That’s good mate, I like it.
I don’t bother asking questions that will get you bullshxt answers.
I am sure that everyone, or most of us, have heard it all a zillion times, the bg story. If they try and tell me I try and change the subject.
The only one that I thought was a bit different and I did feel a bit sorry for her was an older lady in Chiang Mai, was a grand mother and her hubby had left her for a guy in Singapore. She could hardly speak English and she didn’t last long working there.
I might ask if they have kids but I am just not interested in rehashed story as they are all nearly the same.
Steveski.

what does the phrase "Starfish" mean?

I have seen this word in several postings. It is in regards to TG's. It is a pejorative term. What does it mean?

Regards Horatio

I cracked up the first time

when i came across this phrase whilst reading this forum before i went on holiday. (arming myself to the hilt with the wealth of information this forum contains)

& sure enough on my stop over in KL on tramsit to Phuket, i thought i'll try a Malyasian gal out.

I didnt have to go far they or should i say a pimp? had some on offer to me.

Had the classic line up in the room, i took the biggest lady on offer as im no small guy at 6ft 2 im quite a gaint over these ladies.

all things good we got into bed, & as soon as shell lay spread eagle i new i had a classic starfish on my hands.

It was soooo off putting i just turned into a roar of laughter. She shit herself i lost all ambitions & told to go. Thats cause i just couldnt get this starfish thread out of my head.

All was good in Phuket when i finally found a lady that didnt run out on me when i dropped my dacks shouting too long too long.

(they may handle LT but not a long dong )

Does it have a lot of dirty words in it or are there some witty antic dotes. I speak Thai very well so is it useful for someone like me?

You can buy it from Nicke, the owner of Mai Thai Bar in Soi Eric, the bookshop at the beach end of Bangla Rd, and BKK Airport used to have copies in the bookshop there.

I am coming to Phuket in October. Is there any way I can get my hands on this book of yours before I get there.

Yes, I have the book in stock and I may be able to send it to other countries. But be beware it can take from 5 days to 1 month to reach destination.

Dojoden001, I will put the book on the drink menu when I update next time, but most people ask for the book because they have seen it on this website.

Its nothing personal, But there has been an awful lot of new BMs who have signed up recently and they have not been who they say they are, Who just come here to wind up BMs and ask stupid questions, And im sorry to say but some of your posts so far have been extremely strange to say the least which is why I am not too sure, But you deserve the benefit of doubt.

And I will be delighted if you prove me wrong and gladly buy you a drink, But as far as ringing the bell on my account, I dont think so..lol.. Ill be the only one ringing the bell on my account, And that wont be happening very often...555555..
