Long Live Patong (phuket)

Guys

I cant describe to you how I feel at the moment, but I know this feeling, its remorse

But let me ask you something - DO YOU LOVE PATONG

I know you do!!! just like me

Please come as soon as you can, show solidarity, dont consider going anywhere else, if you have cash dont sent it come and spend it!!

Bangla Road and all the soi's around it have made an incredible recovery and just about all are now open - WAITING FOR YOU

If you like nighlife and are not too concerned about the beach then you will still have a great time.

I have every confiedence in the future of Patong and so should you, dont hang about come now

I hope everyone takes this in the context of helping Patong & Phuket to recover

RIP all who perished here and elsewhere

a lucky ex pat survivor - Geespot

Could not agree more with you

Now is the time to spend money and stick around, did not concider for a second to relocate, better to stick with it and keep the wheels turning.
The local buisness has taken a big enuff blow, I do not want to add to that by spending my money elsewhere.

Cheers geespot, oh and thx for the B52

Yes, I follow your appeal and i'm going to patong in 2 weeks for a month and spend my money there.

If the patong beach isn't the same as before yet, no problem - there some other beaches in phuket which have been cleaned up yet.

I hope I'm not the only one and in there will be a bustling nightlife in patong...

Life is going on

Dilemma

It's interesting that so far everyone is encouraging the tourists to come back to Patong but I have a different problem. Follow Kelli's link to state of the beaches in Phuket and read about Kamala. My GF lost many friends (as did I)and is only sticking around to help out her friends with the money I sent her. After that she is going back to Bangkok and said she would meet me there. She is really reluctant to return because of the sadness it brings her but said she would come back with me if that was what I wanted (although she really doesn't want to). She apparently went down to watch the waves as well and was lucky to escape with her life. I want to go back to Kamala as I still have friends there but I don't know if it would be very enjoyable for the both of us.

I did not cancel Phuket, but did my week of Kao Lak!

Situation is much worse and in 2 months it will not be better. Hotels are washed away and I cannot yet figure out whow it is going to be there!

Next year I certainly will support these people by visiting, but now it is too early to go there!

I have decided to come to Patong and spend so as to support...I have no annual leave to take but will take with out pay.My sincere sympathy to all families.i intend to pay 10% more on anything I purchase eg: if a room is 1000bht per night I will pay 1100 bht...if the beer is 150bht I will pay 165bht...plus I shall be very liberal with my tipping.....I feel so sad about all these events

I've just joined the chatroom and I like to seek clarification of what is LOS.

I'm from Auckland, NZ and is due to be in BKK later this month and no doubt I shall be visiting PATONG.

See some of you then.

I'm scheduled for Feb 25 and canceling never crossed my mind. I just left BKK. I was scheduled to fly to Phuket from BKK on Sunday Dec 26th, but just before boarding the airline got the news about the disaster, and canceled the flight. If I could I would have gone anyway. Still had a great time in Bkk, but it wasn't the same without seeing the friends I made last time I was there.

coming back can heal

I will be back in 04/05, i booked the ticket a month after i returned last time.
I know it will be different without many of the faces i have known over my trips.
I will spend some time in reflection, but will smile when i see friends i have made in patong.
When a gunman killed 36 innocent people on my island, i was one of the first dealing with the aftermath, i wondered if i could ever return to that place.
It took 3 years to do so, time can heal the pain.

The people of LOS and Patong deserve our support and that support after immediate aid, is people returning it to a place of life not death.

Love to all in LOS and peace to the lost.

Can I still get my 150baht/pax mini bus ride to Patong?

Will be back end of the month and being a Free n Easy guy, I need this service which was offered previously. 1 person payin 500-600 baht 4 a ride is 2 high for me.
Also that latest TAXIMETER service offerred when you land at the airport has been a rip off when I used it 23 Dec 2004. After dragging yr bags 100+ metres to the TAXIMETER tent, you become a ripe victim for a tout/rogue who will charge you any amount he wants. Its bargain or you drag your bags up slope to the airport terminal and pay the officially offered transport services.
After reading all the "I'll Be Back" feedbacks, I am tempted now 2 book a ticket 4 next week and visit patong for a few days just to thank the many who have helped me last week. And of cos check out the bars!

Show Support

I was recently in Phuket in October 2004. I really love the place and was heart broken when the tragedy occurred. I couldnt beleive what I saw on TV.
However like NYC I am sure Phuket will regain its chram. People were terrified to come to NYC after our tragedy. But time will heal all wounds.
Until that time I will make every effort to travel to Phuket again as soon as possible.
Its hard for a married man to travel

And to all u board members who can get there. Enjoy yourself and more Power to You.

Time to Support LOS

Just booked my flights from Miami to Phuket. It's a total of 12,240 air miles one way. It's a long haul. This land has provided me with so many fond memories and great friends. I intend to spread some Thai Baht to help with the recovery. Will arrive on March 21.

I donated $500 to Red Cross. I hope it is used well and not used up by administrators. When I get to Patong Beach does anyone know of a good charity that will help the kids and displaced families.

I LOVE PATONG BEACH!!!!!!!!
