Last night 02am closing time

Last night I closed MTB 02 because I wanted to join the gang (Irish Jonny, Ozskin, Patong Boy, Jonas & others) who left 20 minutes earlier to go to Taipan. When I arrived few minutes after 02 Taipan was already closed and Jonas told me he only had a half bottle before they closed. We ended up at a bar in soi sansabai instead. I also noticed Superstar was closed, I thought they usually stayed open all night.

Previous weeks 2:30 - 3:00am have been the norm. The question is if they are going to enforce 02am from now on.

Hope not Nicke - but bear in mind the national election is 6th Feb - so perhaps run up to that they will be stricter than is needed ) -- especially at the moment!!

Unusual to see superstars etc closed early.. Anyone hear of a VIP in town visiting ??

Also you would think given the current levels they would do everything they could to encourage the market.

Doubt it.. Sansabai thrives on being a late night stop out place.. They have the bulk of thier trade in after hours drinking (dont think I have ever been in superstars before about 2:30 - 3am

Unbelievable, to make things even more worse, today the boys in brown closed all Patong at 01:00 am.

Patong already have big problems after the tidal wave and to close the nightlife 01 only make the situation lot worse. Crazy. What kind of support is that?

The boys in brown is police. But now I remember that the king will visit Patong tomorrow and I am sure the early closing is because of his visit.

Damn good, then everything may be back to normal pretty soon.

King's Visit

I was very pleased to hear that his majesty the King is visiting Patong. He is really not very well and this is a genuine effort to show support.

Unfortunately this will mean that the Police will try and shine a bit and show that they are doing something. For any BM's in Patong though just be careful on the road, the motorcade does not stop for pedestrians!

MAC RECKON YOUR RIGHT CHECK OUT THIS STORY AND HE WAS A POLICE

BANGKOK POST

Bus hits police chief clearing princess' route

MANOP THIP-OSOD

The chief of Phaya Thai police station was hit by a city bus and seriously hurt while clearing a route for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's motorcade at Victory Monument yesterday morning.

The accident occurred about 8.30am. Pol Col Karoon Klinprayoon was taken to Phaya Thai 2 hospital's intensive care unit for treatment for brain injuries. He was later declared out of danger and moved to another room.

The bus driver, Nikom Chaiyakul, 29, of Chiang Rai's Khun Tan district, was arrested and charged with reckless driving.

He said he had been driving the route 538 bus between Klong 6 in Rangsit and Victory Monument for only four months.

On arriving at Victory Monument he was told by a traffic policeman not to drive in the left lane. He switched to a right lane without noticing Pol Col Karoon was standing there.

Pol Maj-Gen Viroj Jantharangsi, deputy metropolitan police chief, said Pol Col Karoon saw the bus coming towards him and tried to run but was unable to avoid being hit.

this is kinda on the same subject but concerning pattaya.
its kinda weird, theres a big disco, marina, and if you go there at 130am, theres not 1 customer, by 145am the place is half full, and 2am completely full. but then it ends at 230am. so its only really open for 45 minutes. then, at 230am, the whole crowd moves to marina 2, across the street, that goes to 4am, and that is really open for 1hr30min. i thought very weird. by the way, both places have great girls hanging out

Marc, I noticed that very same thing when I was there last year. I was walking past at about 1.45 and there were so many people piling onto the escalator to go in, I thought there must be something special happening. So I went up, just to have a look. Was only in there a few minutes and the place started emptying out again, almost as quick! Quite funny. Very Thai.

I am happy to say we closed normal time today, at 2:30 am.

We also got paper about bar owners meeting at Patong hospital tomorrow, I guess it is because of the 01 closing yesterday. I will send Ead to the meeting and hear what they have to say, but at the moment I dont worry too much because we closed as normal today.

That would be economic suicide at the moment surely..

Let things get back to normal and give the bars some power and leverage..
