Phuket Nightlife

Hi guys,

Ill be in LOS in for the first time in april. I have done my homework reading a lot of posts in this forum. A lot of exellent reads i must say! I now know what LOS, LB, BG, BM, GF, FL, BJ, BBBJ etc etc means... On your exellent advice i have booked a room at the Majestic in BKK and the C & N in Patong (cheap & friendly right?). I also know my first stop is the Mai Thai for a few beers and "General Snus" (you disgusting swedes :-)

But i still have some questions. I have also thrown a couple of Bangkok and Krabi questions in for good measure.

1. By chance i am in Phuket during Songkran - is this a good thing or a bad thing?
2. Whats a "Starfish"?
3. How long does it take to walk from Nana Plaza to Soi Cowboy?
4. What is the Krabi scene like? Is there one?

1) Water festival / fight.. If you have never experienced it you should.. Takes a few years to get jaded and many long termers end up locking themselves indoors for the 3 days.. Me I am somewhere in between...

2) Someone who just lies there while having sex.. arms and legs out like a starfish..

3) Walk... in Bangkok.. ?? Are you mad man ?? Taxi's, motorbike taxis, skytrain, transport galore..

4) there is one apparently small collection of bars and I suspect not the brightest bulbs in the ceiling but you can still get your hole if you need it.. Probably better to take one with you, just consider it like a carry out..

I have a answer to your first question. I thought the 2 first days are great,
the 3. day I'd had enough. And I'm back this year

Nana-Cowboy, I suppose about 20-30 minutes on foot, it's quite a hike in the heat/humidity, take your time and browse the stalls/FLs

1) Never experienced this time of year in LOS so no comment.

2) I always thought a 'Starfish' was someones anus aswell

3) About 20 minutes, walk it, take everything in around you. Savour the flavour!

4) Take a girl with you, atleast your with someone that you want to be with.

Enjoy yourself, and be ready for the Thailand bug to bite you, because you'll be back year after year. Thailand reels you in, gives you a labotomy and puts your brain in your d*ck, then throws you back in to play. Its amazing!

Don't agree with you gays about no 4.
After 2 month in Patong I and a friend went to AoNang (when You talk about Krabi, I suppose it's AoNang you mean?), to relax for some days!
But's it was defenitly no relax! More party than ever. If you know where to look, there is a lot of chicks there. All very friendly and the whole scen is very different to Patong, but don't be fooled! The action IS there!

dont wear good clothes
remember the water is sometimes not to clean
dont travel down kho san road, thanon petchburi, silom in a tuk tuk
carry your mobile,wallet and cigarettes in a plastic bag inside another.

and of course have fun, though it wears off after the kids, building security and others have covered you in water for the 5th time that day.

last songkran in bkk, i walked down a side street off new petchburi, and i got offered into the front garden of a house to join their bbq, after a while i sent one of the teens down to the 7/11 to buy some leo, and mekong to return the hospitality. I did not make it to soi cowboy that night.

upcountry you still find them doing the gentle applying of water to the elderly, but in farang-thailand it is one crazy waterfight.
