Patong Discos?
What are the various Patong Discos like?
Its been a while since I visited Patong Beach, and when I wandered up Bangla, I noticed some new Discos that I had not seen before.
I know Banana Disco tends to pick up at around 11:00pm or so, and Tai-Pan really starts to rock even later than that. Safaree (up the hill toward Karon) also tends to pickup later in the evening (If I recall correctly).
But what about "relatively" new discos: Dragon Disco? Crocodile Disco? Tiger Disco? (Did I miss any?) Do these other discos ever pickup (or only in high season)?

Banana is a little dull, and tends to attract newbies, farang couples, and tourists who are new to the scene or like thier disco to be a little on the sanitized side of things. The FLs there are so-so, except for a few strictly business pros.
Tiger and Tai Pan are big, rocking discos, that really have a lot of energy going on in the late hours, but are pretty tame before 1:00 AM. Tai Pan also has a live band that is pretty decent, and DJ later on.
Baya Beach is smaller and hipper. The guys tend to be a little younger there(on average), and the FLs a little more experienced, but still friendly. If they like you, they will go with you, and not negotiate on the price. Plenty of hotties!
Safari is Safari. The end of the line. A scene unto itself, where all the other scenes merge. If you can't find what you are looking for there, give up!

Crocodile Disco are doing a deal just now, 3 beers for 99 baht
Ive not been there myself whilst this is on offer, but lots of guys and girls I know are going there, relatively early, so I reckon it will be busy up until about 2am, then they are off to Tiger & Baya
This is just a general observation
Tiger disco, mixed crowd, lots of FL & later BG talent
Baya Beach, trendy crowd, top FL's & BG's in Patong, usually coming from Tiger onto Baya
Taipan, small % of hotties, av FL's & later BG's, older guys
Banana Disco - joke
Safari - late night ravers, usually packed
Crocodile, the jurys out, I will have a look tonight and report back
Rumour is that a new disco is being developed at Soi Moodie / Suckomvit at Rat-u-tit
just my take on things

Dragon is dead - since closing after the tsunami it has since reopened but is empty in the disco (the pool tables can be busy), which is a shame as it was just getting going as one of my favourite hangouts - especially the dancers on the poles at the back, some real 10/10s there.
As for the rest G's reviews i would add that:
Baya - just too small to relax for my liking, but some hot FLs.
Tiger - your sure bet for a busy night.
Taipan - feels a bit more down market to me (snob) :P
Banana - some v hot FL but it is pot luck - usually full of 'tourists' / couples
Safari - at least its sorted it opening hours, got bored of going there and sitting in silence while the police closed it down again.
Crocodile - not checked it out yet - fear of LB hassle keeps me away (probably wrongly)

Use the back door !! 55555 No, seriously if you want to avoid the LB's then use the road just off Beach Road where the German GrilleHut restaurant is, there's a kind of car park at the end of this small soi and over to the right it the back entrance to Soi Crocodile. Down a small alleyway (used by patrons from Soi Crocodile wanting to take a leak) and turn left at the end. Brings you out at the other end of the soi i.e. under the disco. Et voila !! You've avoided all those longnails and handbags !!
Cheers

Was in the Crocodile disco last week, arrived at 4am but you could not tell anything was happening when you walked down the Soi as very well sound proofed. Not as big as Tiger, full of LB's and some BG's but alot of very drunk people who probably could not make the trek to Safari.
Banana is so so, a bit dead on weekdays and has fair share of farangs, both male and female.
Tiger was packed every night we were there, some friendly people but the music can get on your t*ts if you stay there too long.
Baya is a bit more upmarket where you pay more for your drinks. Crowd quite young and some hot FL's, I don't know what time it closes though.
Tai Pan is down and dirty, smaller then Tiger and has an anything goes vibe too it. We were dancing on the stage and all sorts here and it went down quite well, just like the beer!!!!

Tiger is the best club by far
Tai Pan is second choice
Banana was my least favourite, I only went there once.... and that didnt last long!
Tiger is best for picking up FL's though... happy hunting!

I didnt like baya beach at all! I found it too cramped and to full of over aggresive people (Which i had to say were mainly youngish American men). To me the place reminded me of the bars along the Mexican border that all the College kids go to!
I much prefer Tiger or Tai Pan. As both have good layouts and its possible to 'hang' without continually having to move out the way of others! (But watch out in Tiger as the lighting is a bit dark, so you could end up with, lets say, a 55 yr old! )
Banana I used to like alot, but never got around to going the last time!
I started to like that Rio place last time, but after midnight its a bit dead, unless you are waiting for one of the girls! Highly recomended during the day though (especially the chicken breasts which were great!)
Safari i've been to before, but cant remember what its like as the time and drinks i had means its imposible!
Anyway, i suppose its up to each individual, to which bar/club you like!

I agree, Although there was a good bit of talent to be found in baya, I didnt like the place, Its really small and can get really cramped, No space to move at all, I actually liked Tai pan out of them all because you had a little more space to move in, I also liked tiger, Plenty of talent in there but again it does be so packed there's no room to move and it can get really hot in there!!!
Never checked out any of the other clubs while I was there this time except for safari which is a cool place to go for a few after hours drinks, And there is always a few stunners hanging around there, One word of warning about safari, Watch were your walking, It does be pitch dark and I cant remember how many times I cracked my legs off things there, Left the place with bumps and brusie's nearly every I was there, Could of being the drink aswell though

Safari Thai pan
I did enjoy safari but correct me if I am wrong but there did seem to be quite a few LBs there that sort of hang around the less than well lit areas.
Is this a correct observation?
I did not have a problem with it just an observation.
As most people seem to go there after being to other places first it may be easier for people to get a surprise when they get back to their room.
I did like the atmosphere there though and would prefer to go there after closing as opposed to Thai pan. If you do go to Thai pan and take some one carries a bag tell them to be very careful as there was a case of bags being ripped off (in March this year), even best for them or you to hold the bags when they dance.
The girl that I went to Thai pan with had her bag ripped off a few nights previous and the charming bustard at the door would let her in without ID and did not give a shite that her bag was ripped from in there a few nights earlier. She was in her late 20’s and did not look under aged. His attitude really pissed me off. I won’t be in a hurry to spend any of my money in there in the future!

In the past i have had a few arguements with the door staff at tai pan over a number of different issues (One being that they claimed that i only handed over a 500 baht note when i know for a fact that i just come back from tha atm with a thousand note! This made me casue an arguement with the door man then the manager, before i finally got the right change!) on previous trips. But this last trip, I was never planning to go there but was 'dragged in' one night. The door staff seemed to have become more relaxed now, though this may be because the place wasnt that full.
On another issue, I never realised that you had to be 20 to go to clubs in Thailand!!! But then i took a girl, who turned out to only be 19 to Tiger a few times, and when she showed her id, nothing was said by the door staff!

My own input and some questions re Discos
First the questions:
Are Tiger and Taipan charging covers now? Any drinks come with them? What about the other bars?
How big is Baya Beach compared to the others? What are the FLs like there: friendly and approachable, or only interested in the best-looking, youngest guys? Sounds even smaller than Taipan?
Tough q: Are the staff at any of these places cute, and are they "up for it" if asked? I know, probably depends, etc. etc., but any input appreciated.
Any of the clubs busy b4 midnight?
Quick comments (haven't been to Phuket for nearly two yrs but hope to return soon!)
Taipan - never liked the place one bit; low ceiling; horrible band but very, very load, and just not a friendly, island vibe; at least not for me...many of the FLs seemed on the harder side there
Banana - holidaying in Phuket and going to Banana would be like living in China and traveling to London for Chinese food; boring; poor guy-girls ratio; sterile; seemed like a typical, overrated dance club found throughout the West
Star Wars/Club: now history; liked the place but it never caught on too much; dead b4 midnight which was a bit of a drag; nice party vibe though and good air circ; I'm guessing Tiger is the "new" Shark Club, if you will...?
Cheers

Cover
Tiger charge a 100 baht per person cover I think but you get a drink 'free'
Tai Pan there is no cover charge.
Banana charges 200 baht per person with 2 drinks included, very quiet during the week.

Tiger plays house and hard house pretty up for it party vibe heaps of FL's some stuners in amongst the crowd top spot busy just about every night worth checking.
Like any club if you stand in the corner with your drink and don't look like much fun you probably won't get very far but if you're out there having fun and get into it who knows what might come your way.

My expirience with Tiger is that even if you stand in the corner with youre drink, it stills comes your way.
