Police blitz late-night entertainment venues
I read the following article in the gazette:
http://www.phuketgazette.net/news/index.asp?id=4286
Do this happen also in Patong or the agreement with the local police still lasts?
Thanks

I heard that one night about 2 weeks ago, in Tiger Disco, they made all the girls take piss tests.

It is extremely rare for this to happen in Patong, except where Phuket Town or Bangkok police are in town, and they are acting on a tip off. Never seen it happen in say one of the side sois though, only the larger places.

To me it sounds like the article is refering to the nightlife in Phuket Town, not Patong.

Something is in the air
THey seem to be looking for anything they must be bored. Nicke & Geir konw abou this one, they were in soi tiger last night checking bottled spirits and ensuring the tax paid labels were on them. If you premix cocktails and pu them in a bottle and they find them then you could be in trouble
I hope not to have to test this out, but i reckon the way round the work permit issue is by being a director of thai company, dont take a salary but you can take a dividend as a share of profit of your company. The only problem is explaining these technical issue with the boys in brown when they show up. Also some people say dont sit inside your bar but it depends on your licence, e.g. I looked at my licence and the public have been allocated seating inside my bar as per the licence
Its just plain ridiculous that farangs are investing in thailand and getting treated like aliens from outer space
