ALSO THE POOL PARTIES PICTURED ON THERE WEBSITE DO THEY ACTUALLY TAKE PLACE ? I AM not just interested in lady BARS AND GO GO BARS ALSO ANY INFO ON THE BEST BARS WITH LIVE MUSIC AND DANCING ESPECIALLY ROCK MUSIC WOULD BE APRECIATED

YOU have never met me in all of your life so how come you feel qualified to say i am an idiot when all i have done is ask for some advice on the do and dont do in patong i am only asking for the benefit of experience of other members, and i dont intend getting into an argument with anyone other it, so if you feel qualified to call someone who you have never met before and no nothing about an idiot simply because i am not 100% competent on computers then thats up to you it wont make me lose any sleep but i really think you are being a tad unfair but being the friendly fun loving loveable guy that i am i would still buy you a beer when i come on 31st October okay.
Anyway i would genuinely appreciate any info you can give me on the nightlife especially info on the Valhalla because since making my booking i have recieved bad reports about it. A nd i really would like to know from people who are there on the spot their views on the hotel A nd as for the original guy who replied to me i would like to appologise, you got me in the middle of the night on a nightshift, and just as you dont know me then i dont know Bono so i should not have called him what i did, i am genuinely sorry about that

Welcome to the site.....story is the one of our most popular Board Members...Irish Jonny (fellow Man U supporter )....always writes is messages in CAPITALS.....so that was what Bono's post was all about.
Now l have no experience re The Valhalla, but from what l have learnt from this forum is that it may be not as popular as it has been in the past....but there will be other BM's who can give you a better idea there.
Popular nite spots would be Tiger Disco, Taipan, Safari Club and l believe a new Go Go Bar ? Nitespot has opened in the Crodile Disco Complex......and of course you must visit Nicke at Mai Thai Bar.
Cheers

Valhalla does get some girls using the pool in the daytime and I have lost track of how many times the sauna etc has been used on a half drunk afternoon but its glory days of old are no longer (as is the gogo).. Jan ran into trouble with the MiB and it was ended..

Tai pan has a live band earlier on in the night, i was in there last time and he was asking for requests, i asked for anything oasis so he sang wonderwall for me, the only problem was he expected me to sing along with him(i am usless) but when he came over with a T-shirt that my bird wanted i had to do it.
do you guys bring your kilts when you travel???
maybe see you there later in your trip, how long you staying??
maybe not too helpful but had to say hello to a fellow scotsman

DIZBUSTA,
I don't find the music in Rock Hard bad either. Problem with the live band opposite playing in the "sombrero" bar is that it is so loud that you can not talk.

Hi Tom & hello from a fellow Scot
In tems of nighlife and the typ eof music they play here's a rundown from my point of view
Bangla Road: good daytime bars to hangout, decent nightime venue is Kangaroo Bar. Most bars play guitar rock music, hip hop & rythm & blues, you will find sound systems are of a pretty good standard. At the top of bangla, rock hard ago go is ok and rio a good hang out joint to play pool with lots of chicks, couple of other pool halls open, try living room, good pool and lots of lovlies
Soi Easy & Soi Gonzo - soi's on the slide not a lot of quality things happening here, albeit it has just opened a new ago go upstairs at soi easy which look pretty ok at the moment. Music played is pretty much disco/chart orientated
Soi Crocodile: lots of ladyboys at the front bars which makes quite a spectacle, more lady populated bars from the middle to the back. Has a disco at the end of the soi upstair, currently doing 3 bottles of beer for 99 baht, also has a an LB cabaret which is worth a look and can have a good laugh, Music, kinda high energy disco, & house music
Soi Eric: good mainstream bars, lots of chicks, good place to start the evening before moving on to more energetic places, has an ago go at the end of the soi, music not too loud but good house/garage music from the UK
Soi Sea Dragon: Another soi struggling, lots of bars with live music and the main place for ago go's, but pretty poor compared to say bangkok
Soi Lion - small soi a couple of good bars, with some nice chicks, disco / chart music
Soi Tiger - lots of big bars, lots of girls dancing on bars go go style, pretty loud can be wild, music disco / chart, they need to sort the sound system out. Upstairs probably the most popular disco in town
Tanon Rat-u-tit: Disco is the order of the day here, Taipan, a poor mans' tiger disco pretty much average girls with a few stunners thrown in. The owner is centre stage MC'ng run of the mill disco and house music. Baya Beach: lots of hot chicks, high proportion of southern med clientele, good house music, but pretty small. Soi Moodies/Suckomvit, new soi lots of new bars reckon will take some time to develop
Soi Sansabai: couple of late night joints for eating and superstar a very late night place for drinking. Reasonable house music, can be open very late indeed
Outside town: on the edge of patong: Safari disco, when the other placesclose lots of people move on here. usually very busy, large open air area, good prices drink, chart & house music
Hope this brief summary helps
note these are just my views and other peope may not agree with them

Thanks to all the guys who took the trouble to reply your advice is noted.
We will be arriving in patong about 1500 hours from bangkok on Monday 31st October and staying for 7 Days before flying on to Pattaya for 1 week and then finishing in Lamai beach (samui) for 6 days, My god i will need another week off work just to recover when i get home.
If any of you guys either live in Patong or will be there at That time and fancy a night on the piss with 3 scotsmen and give us the benefit of your experience of patong it would be apreciated.
Regarding the live rock music, Some of us 40ish guys when we get pissed go up and make an ass of ourselves on the dance floor, my vice is going up and singing with the band and indeed some nights if i am not too pissed playing guitar also i must be half decent because i find sometime i am up there for an hour but as you guys know whilst the thais are absolutely brilliant musicians 95% of the time their vocal skills are akin to a the sound of a man being castrated without being anaesithised so i would not have to be so good to have people asking me to sing more songs if it meant the thai singer was being shut up! Big word of advice if you are pissed and happen to get up with the band remember your limitations Once about 4 years back i found myself in the Gene bar on Soi Bintaban in Hua Hin and proceeded to give everyone my full reportoire (guns and roses, bon jovi etc) for my grand encore i finished of with what i was told by everyone was a great version of enter sandman by Metalica thats all very well but when i woke the next morning i found that i could not utter a single word and indeed despite going to the doctors for several remedies and medicines no sound was forthcoming from me for 9 days so now 2 songs and the fat lady sings .
Anyway good luck to everybody and if anyone is ever in my vicinity in Scotland which is Ayrshire give me a call and i would meet up for a drink and a chat although dont expect the nightlife in my part of the world to come anywhere thailand
