Phuket Nightlife - Phuket Town Nightlife

Venturing out to Phuket Town tonight for a change of scene. Anyone got any good recommendations for bars and clubs?

We don't just want slappers as we can get them here in Patong, so somewhere with a few more educated/professional/studenty types would fit the bill... at least that's the intentions until we get bladdered at 2am and grab any old ****** we can find.

Live music would be cool, at least for starters.

I've heard of the following... Zanzibar, Climax, Spark Club. Opinions?

Jammin and Timberhut are 2 of the more accessable places for farangs.. T2 can be ok..

t2 is at the clock tower circle right next to the metropole hotel. the zanzibar is under the royal phuket hotel and it's a classy bar with live music, nice atmosphere. spark club is a big nightclub i think with a big stage and two giant tv screen on both sides hanging on the wall

16 club is ok

But all my Thai staff seem to only like Timber Hut and that would be my choice.

Also if you go between 5-8pm go to the gym and work out and meet cuties at the Royal City Phuket Hotel gym it's big and good place to meet office babes.

Going the the gym for pickups... At least your sure they take care of themselves..

Has anyone been to the 'fantasia' joint.. expensive showoff was how it was described to me... Thais buying jonny walker blue for 3+k and making sure they left thier name on it but sensational dancers... Never been there but curious...

For a recent arrivals Timberhut and Jammin remain low hassle.. Thouh the good thing about Phuket town is when you make friends you end up in the oddest of places.. My last one had us in a mock country bar with a buffalow head (with horns) and C&W band at about 5 am.. odd but fun..

This is good advice, IMHO. Its also where I met my Thai wife for the 1st time.

Definitely true for all places in Phuket, where the non P4P crowd resides. In the case of the Royal City Phuket Hotel gym, if one is an expat and if both parties (Thai lass and Falang expat) are frequent visitors, it becomes a bit easier to establish the needed certainty, especially after a few "in-common" visits. For a potential lover at Timber Hut or Jammin', I think one needs to be a bit more savy in making this needed determination. Add a few beers to the equation, and the challenge is definitely there!

Started at Jammin. OK, quite good band. Sprinkling of teacher-type farangs and plently of girls.

Went on to Timberhut. Total nightmare on a Saturday night. Nowhere to stand comfortably let alone sit. Average band playing loud tuneless Thai rock, flashy Thai guys with their women, sprinkling of farangs. Do this one Sunday or midweek if you really have to.

Back to Jammin but already shutting (1.30) so went to T2. Big nightclub playing out-of-date commercial music. We were the only 2 farangs in the entire place and no girls would talk to us I guess for fear of being labelled *****s by all the other Thais. You know how it is. Either that or they sussed us immediately for a couple of keeniows from Patong.

All in all a very different scene to Patong. Jammin was best but it was nice to get back to Tai Pan
