April 06 worth a visit

Hey, i am asking myself if i should go to Phuket next year 7th until 19th April.
Do you think it is still high season or do all the tourist left at latest in March.

Can anybody tell me if there is more party than in August??
I was there las year August. There was pretty much party. Is it in April the same or even more party?

Thank you very much!!!!!

early April is using still high season as Songkran, Thai new year, is in the middle of April. Resort prices are still at high season rates but lots of people.

Bars closed for Songkran but lots of fun with waterfights in streets.

do search for Songkran and read posts.

Bars have been open when I've been there , cashiers hiding under sheets of plastic. Last year thought I'd take a safe break and headed upstairs to a bar (possibly Blue Note) ,walked in and got an ice bucket (with ice) thrown over me. Girls were dancing on tables with water guns ,soaking everyone in sight. Had to keep covering my beer to stop it getting diluted.

I thought the bars were closed for 1 day at least. Well I am glad to hear that they are not, I stand corrected. Thanks for telling me as I do not want to give anyone the wrong information. I am actaully thinking about going the same time so this is good to know. I was not too worried about them being closed as IJ, Allybaba23, Zeaker, and a few other BM's said they had a great time at Songkran 2005.

Some bars do close for the first day at least, this is mainly to protect the bar itself, and to allow the staff to enjoy, what is basically a Thai holiday. Some people dont understand a sign which says "NO WATER IN THE BAR"

Most bangla bars are open aand as much as its possible to drink in that waterfight you can still get a drink..

Its more establishments with decor etc that close to protect the place..

Always advisable to book when you know what your travel plans are

I would book a hotel if you are sure of the one you want.
As far as flights go I would wait until January as there are usually a lot of flight reductions here in UK around that time.

Damn, Ally, does this mean that all the BG's will be out of those pretty pink ribbed condoms that you give them as presents so there will be no pretty pink lubricated water balloons at Songkran since you will not be there?

Hope all is well at home with you and your little irish dove.

Pink Fluffy handcuffs. Who are those from, Dirty Mike? Not sure they will match my outfit at Songkran, if I get there around then. Now do we use them on the BG's or do they use them on us. If it is the second one I better make sure she is not an LB before she cuffs me.

Glad to hear all is well at home.

IJ distracted. Why, too many wet t shirts too look at or was he focused on just one wet t shirt?

If I come for Songkran I might show up at MTB in a wetsuit with my mask and snorkel. I will just drink from a bottle with a long straw and keep my mask on. I wonder what customs will say when I bring the extra large super soaker with the water tank backpack in my luggage.

Ice is a relief...

It's hotter than a blast furnace though....isn't it the hottest time of year?

Getting a bucket of ice dumped over your head is often a welcome respite.
I've been to Songkran in BKK - it's total insanity at Kao Sahn Road. I think that Phuket would be a bit less insane/more fun.
