You will find it has changed beyond recognition, I have seen pics of pattaya of 15 - 20 yrs ago and it looks very different now, then again so would bangkok, phuket etc..
As for where to go...yes do both.
Pattaya is great for full on hardcore P4P nightlife.
Phuket is good for a relaxed, smaller version with good beaches and an island party vibe.

depends on how long time you have. But bouth places are recomended by me. But if you only have 1-2 weeks pattaya is the best place. But thats me... You can take planes direkt from pattaya to phuket, so my advice is : go pattaya, and if you have time fly over to phuket.

One of the reasons there are so many russians in Pattaya is that mutch of the charter traffic from russia is landing in Pattaya (U-Tapao).

I'am going to Pattaya next week after a sucessful stay in Phuket two months ago. I guess both are fantastic fantasy fulfulling places. Hope to latch this time onto a rageing nymphomaniac who falls in love with me. If I survive, I'll give a report on it!
