Pattay JBR

I spent 5 nights in Pattaya during early December. It was my first time there and I'm not sure if I would go back. It has it's moments though. I was in Phuket stuck with bad weather so I booked a flight on Bangkok Air to what I thought was going direct to Pattaya but turned out to be some place in the middle of nowhere an hour away. I think it was U-Lumpau but I'm sure that's spelled wrong. That's what happens when you make decisions on the fly. When you land there the only way to get out of the airport is at the limo counter. No metered taxis. The cost was 1000 baht which is a big ripoff. I think the round trip ticket on Bangkok Air was around 3000 baht. Very small plane with no room either in overhead of underneath seat for my carry on. I stayed at the Flipper Hotel on soi 7 for about 1200 baht a night which was okay. The best part about Pattaya IMHO is the gogo bars. I went to one that I would say was the best I've ever been in. It's called the Polo. The only reason I chose that one was because right next to it up the steps is the place where the Russians girls are and I wanted to check that out. I just popped my head in and it didn't look like anything special so I headed into the Polo. The place was packed both nights I went in there. I think many Japanese tour buses bring their crowds there. The place had about 10 of the hottest dancers I have seen in Thailand and they put on a great show. Shower shows, S/M shows, les shows--you name it they had it and it was done well. They even had the women come out like they were models on a Catwalk that was very sexy. At one point during the show they come off the stage and for 100 baht you get to spread oil all over their naked bodies. All during the show as well I had a Hello girl giving me a massage. All in all a pretty good time.
I went to Soi 6 one night. I actually kind of liked it. It's low key, quiet beer bars only they are inside and have couches.
I usually ended up at a gogo or beer bar on Soi 8 at the end of night and from what I could tell, some beer bars never close and the gogo places would shut down around 4am. On the Kings Birthday it seemed as though most of the bars were open around soi 7 and 8 but didn't have lights on or any music.
The problem I have with Pattaya is the complete lack of a beach. Yea, there is water there, and chairs and umbrellas but no beach to speak of and even the locals don't want to go in the water. The chairs are right against the water so even a casual stroll down the beach would be difficult. I took a 50 baht bus to Jomtien one day because I heard the beach was better but it turned out the "beach" was the same only the water was supposedly cleaner. The other problem I have with Pattaya is the illusion that you are on a pleasant vacation that just so happens to have women around is gone. In Phuket at the bars the girls ask you "where you from?" "How long you stay?" In Pattaya I was asked "How many times you *** today?" This is at the bar within 5 minutes of talking to a girl. I guess I would go there again for a couple of nights and golf during the day and then head down to Phuket. It's just a little too crazy. To give you an example of the partying that goes on, the girl in the picture I didn't want to go with the first night because I had passed so many other hotties. The last night before I left I went back there and realized there was no way I had the energy to even begin to mess around with her. I was just beaten down from 5 days of heavy partying all night.

The airport for Pattaya is U-Tapao I think, so it may well be the one you went to. It's not actually in Pattaya but at Sattahip and personally I can't see a problem with the 1,000baht limo fare, that's roughly £13.50 for a 1 hour drive. I'm also a little surprised you likened Jomtien's beach to that of Pattaya. Whilst it is not a great beach, it is a great deal better than the one along Pattaya's sea front.

Once they have finished the new Bangkok airport, it will be much better for Pattaya as it's much nearer than Don Muang currently is, but will take around the same maybe a bit more to get there than from U-Tapao.

I remember some of the places, bars, etc you mentioned and it seems that you were kept quite happy. You also picked up on the different attitude the BG's have, which was the main reason for me changing from Pattaya to Patong, which means it wasn't just me that thought this way.

Nice pics

Can't help but p1ss myself laughing at that ''how many times you *** today?'' an absolute classic.

What was her name and what bar ? 55555

I'm sure you must realise that she was joking with you, bg's do have a sense of humour believe or not.

In all serious though, I have not really found the attitude that much different anywhere in los.
The questions are the same routine everywhere you go, how long you stay?what your name? what name your hotel ? how much you pay me ?

Polo is a good laugh but too much japanese for my liking, I prefer to sit amongst other guys that are there for the same reason as me, Polo usually has japanese couples just there to watch a show only, not really my scene.

Peppermint, Happy, Living dolls, Paris, Superbaby, Supergirl, What's up, Heaven, Misty's, Kitten, TQ2 & Classroom are my faves. And a few others of course.

Hi, Cooperspooky!
Just some more info:
There are minibuses leaving from U-Tapao airport for Pattaya for only 150 baht, but if you don't hurry out of the airport they might leave you behind, they go when full and if you are left alone you must take a taxi or wait for the next flight with new passengers and take the minibus with them instead!
About beaches I agree that the beach in Pattaya is not that wide and when it is high tide the water goes all the way up to the sun-chairs. The baht-bus to Jomthien beach is only 10 baht from the bus-stop outside the school in South Pattaya. The beach is much wider here and at low tide there is plenty of space to walk around, I think the beach is nearly 10 km long! Many tourists will just jump of as the streets turns left when it reaches the beach and stay there which make this part very crowded, but if you turn right here(or continue with the bus for another 2-3 kms), and continue to walk past Pattaya Park the beach is more quiet and at regular intervals along the beach there are areas where beach chairs are now forbidden, so you can just lay yourself down on your own towel and enjoy the sun without having to pay for chairs. About the water quality it is much clearer now than at my first visit 19 years ago when it was very murky and you would sink down to your knees in the muddy bottom! During the winter season (Dec-March) and when the winds blows from land the water isn't bad at all, but still might have some garbage floating ashore when the wind blows the waves towards the beach! If you want white sand coral beaches and blue water you just take the boat to Koh Larn Island just half an hour away and 20 bath for the one way trip, leaves from the new pier at the end of Walking Street. Here is more info:http://kohlarn.com/index1.htm
Pattaya is quite a big place and takes more than a few days to cover! Cheers! plahgat

The girl who asked me that was either dead serious or she had the dryest sense of humor I have ever seen. Do those other gogos have shows or is it just strippers on a pole? The other two gogos I went to had decent women but they were just crowded onto a tiny stage.

Thanks for the info. I was one of those tourists who jumped off the bus as soon as it pulled it into town. Koh Larn looks good and it's close. Next time I will be more prepared. This was all done kind of in a rush with no planning whatsoever.

Hi again!
About GoGo bars with shows there are plenty of those in Pattaya.
The show at Polo is actually one of the tamest in town, it's been choreographed well and is worth the visit and fun to watch, but if you want to see some real raunchy action there are better options!
Hooty's showbar has some of the hottest shows in town, for example the lezzie show where the girls bang each other with strap-ons. During one of my visits one of the customers got so horny that he went up on stage and had the girls give him a BJ in front of the cheering crowds!
For some of the classical pu**y-shows there are the infamous Marilyn and Top girls aGoGo. Not to everyones taste though to see old ladies pull out live fish, mice, needles on a string or shoot arrows or bananas with their lower regions! These bars will also sharge you with entrance fee or asking for a tip.
Fantasia Show bar has these shows as well interspersed with Lady-Man shows, and are not so bad.
Best shows in my opinion are at Livingdolls Showcase and Diamond aGoGo, with some of the prettiest stunners doing very sexy shows, but still with style.
Other bars with good lezzie-shows are the Super Baby and Super Girl, also Peppermint the biggest GoGo bar in Pattaya has some decent shows nowadays.
I think that most of the bigger GoGos will put on shows, usually after 10.00pm, depends on how many customers there are in the bar. Plenty of GoGos and new ones popping up all the time, at last count I counted to 44 of them, here is a good website with all the GoGos listed:http://www.pattayagogoguide.com//! Cheers! and Happy New Year! plahgat

Hi Cooperspooky,

That does genuinely surprise, perhaps she is jaded after working the bar for a very long time?
My point really is this, it doesn't matter wether you are talking about pattaya girls, patong girls, BKK girls. The girls in the beer bars can often say the crudest of things, but mainly they are usualy having a laugh.

To give an example or 2.
Things I have heard bars girls in patong say or shout.
''Oh my budda, I **** u for free'' shouted out in the street.
''How big you d1ck ?''
''Welcome sir..fcuk me please''
And the list goes on

Pattaya , all very similar to the above.

My last trip to Chiang mai which has a very quiet bar scene.

I'm sitting in a bar with a very pretty girl (9/10 at least) - 2 guys walk past and she shouts out ''welcome, *** inside me please'' instead of ''welcome, come inside the bar please'', she and the other girls all burst out laughing, it is just part of their fun and they like to laugh about this stuff for their own amusement.

It's the nature of the business after all it is the vice trade we are talking about. About attitude, the only difference I can see in attitude of pattaya vs patong girls is that pattaya girls are far more used to the type of guy that has no interest other than to butterfly and change the lady each day like he would change his underwear. Patong girls more often get a longer deal and therefore give out the illusion of the GFE (girlfriend experience)

So I guess you could say they adapt to their enviroment, just like nature would really. One time I barfined a girl in pattaya 3 times in a row, the other girls could not believe I kept returning and 1 of the other girls in this bar asked me on the 3rd night if I was in love with this girl. They could not understand why I wasn't hopping to other bars, so putting it simply, they are not used to this. Pattaya does have a lot more ''cheap charlie'' clientelle, patong has far less of that by a great margin.

As for shows, I think Thaijanne has pretty much covered that subject, good post by him and he is right about the amount of bars and naughty nightlife, will take any man a very long time to cover all of it.

boy I misssed out

Thanks for the info guys. I wish I had that before I left. I wasn't planning on going to Pattaya so I had no idea. When I arrived i just went to an internet shop and looked at the first web site I found with info about the nightlife. You guys are much more detailed. I thought that Polo place was the best show in town and now it sounds quite tame. I think one of the places I went was Diamond but it wasn't that good. Tons and tons of hot women on stage but very crowded both on stage and in the gogo but I didn't see any shows. I was probably only there for a half hour though. Strap On show? Can't believe I went to Pattaya and missed out on that.
