Thai people's wage per month?
Just wondering how much Thai people earn on average per month. I'm going to travel to Thailand, and am looking to budget myself, the best way to do it is by finding out how much they earn. So if anybody know's let me know.

I doin't see why you knowing makes any difference, as you will get charged a different price anyway being a farang. Do some searching on recent threads to find out for your budget, there's plenty of threads starting like "How much do I need..." etc

A lot less than what you'll need to cover yourself for the month.

Here is a post I made in November , do you really think you can survive on a budget like that.
Quote:
Think about it !!!!!
Many of us complain about prices in Phuket , and some even argue about paying 10-20 Baht more than they think they should. Look at the (possible) new minimum wage for Phuket and then think again.
Minimum daily wage may rise by B3
PHUKET: Phuket’s minimum daily wage, currently 178 baht, could rise to 181 baht, matching Bangkok, if the Phuket Provincial Labor Committee gets its way.
At a meeting yesterday, the committee – which comprises five provincial officials, five employers and five employees – approved the three-baht increase in principle.
Suthep Therdkiatkajorn, an official with the Phuket Provincial Labor Office, said that the proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Labor, which is expected to announce a decision on January 1 next year.
“The minimum wage can vary depending on the cost of living, and taking into account increased fuel prices,” K. Suthep added.

I take it that figure is just for entry level positions. Even still that is terrible.
My lowest paid guy who is a complete idiot makes $125 USD a day. This kid is lucky if he can find his way to work everyday. He is about as entry level as they come. lol
Can the average person afford to rent an apartment at those wages and still eat? I have no idea what things cost there. I know there is a big difference in the cost of living but I just can't understand how someone could live on that.
I know there is no way I could go there and live on that per day. Forget the hotel cost I am just talking about food and Diet Cokes.
I was reading the post about how much to tip at dinner ect just the other day. Knowing this now I will make sure to tip the wait staff very well.

Although, as a farang you wil pay mo9re for just about everything, especially if you don't speak much Thai, I think it's interesting to have an appreciation of what the people around you are earning.
A basic secretary or receptionist will make about 10,000THB/month.
Typical BGs 1 room apartments are of the order to 4000THB/month and they generally share 2-6 to a bed.
A basic farang English-teaching job starts at 20000-30000THB/month, private schools can pay more depending on need/qualifications.
Here's a minimum wage table from 2001 wages are set according to region ( http://www.pacificbridge.com/Publica...land2001.htm):
Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonta Buri, Pathum Thani, Phuket, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon
Minimum Wage: 162 baht $3.77
Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Nakhon, Ratchasima, Phangnga, and Ranong
Minimum Wage: 140 baht $3.26
All other areas
Minimum Wage: 130 baht $3.03

I was suprised, it's not bad. diet coke was good when it first came out, but when they changed to mix. it was not as good.
It's like reg coke here in the states, if you can get the stuff from Mexico, it is completly different. Cane sugar vs beet sugar, or so I'm told.

i always have to remind myself this is the DAILY wage - not per hour
at present in the UK it's about £5/hr, i think the US is around $6/hr (varies from state to state, i believe)
makes you think.
so how come people here are so fu*king miserable when they have so much (comparatively, i don't mean the min. wage means you're wealthy) and people in LOS, who haven't much materially are generally far happier?
OK, lots of generalisations but i expect most people know where i'm coming from.
Suppose the answer's fairly obvious too. Climate, culture, people, food, pace of life, different types of stressors, family values, Buddha, mai pen rai - all add up to better quality of life.
Sorry, starting to ramble
Shit, i miss Phuket

Makes you realise exactly why some of these tg's give us farangs the ultimate GFE whilst we are holidaying in the hope of acquiring a s/ship.....my gf says a lot of her friends get 20k per month.......l suggested that they might have been inflating that figure....if not, l then suggested that maybe her friends, boyfriends might have some friends.......then we would just be friends
Hope that does not confuse anybody.
