will any cab drive to pattaya from bkk?

I have emailed this one dude named TOOM a couple of days back, but I am not too sure how reliable he is. He responded to me my email but have not written back since. So when I do arrive in BKK, the following day I will be going to pattaya. Can I Just grab any cab off the street to take me to pattaya? Or do you guys recommend a place to catch a cab or a person that is reliable.

Thanks again,

I know I tend to generate a lot of posts before I head to LOS, and I appreciate you guys responding.

I havent got a taxi from bangkok to pattaya, but there are heaps and I mean heaps of taxis in bangkok and am sure if one wont the next one will.
ask your hotel they can normally arrange something.
only problem I have had is taxi not wanting to put meter on,if this happens just say no thanks and get next one.
if a price for trip is needed before the trip make sure u understand how much it is before getting into taxi.

WILDON E if you are staying at the nana hotel then you can catch the bus direct from there to pattaya 4 times a day 0830-1130-1330-1530 300 bhat drops you off at nipa lodge hotel on pattaya central road form there bhat busses are waiting to take you to your hotel included in the price if you are at any other hotel check if they have a bus or mini bus service if not take one of their own taxis it will cost you around 1500 bhat.

If you got Mr Toom's email addy from the forum I think you did then you would notice that the post has nothing but praise for his punctuality and reliability If you did not get it from the forum PM me and I will send you the link

I will be using him in Sept...I think 1200B is reasonable for personalised service, especially since I arrive at approx 11pm so do not want any drama =)

Cheers

Mr. Toom reliable and also punctual...he has a team of drivers..just last week he sent a lady driver to pick me up from the bangkok airport to Pattaya and on my way back, sent another guy to pick me up from my hotel to airport. Reliable and punctual. Will use him again.

Yes just either pre book a taxi or hail a taxi driver at your hotel or on the road and negotiate a set price.

I did that exactly 3 weeks ago.....and it works out quite cheaply too.

You'll have a blast in pattaya Have fun!!

hello guys.First post to the forum, hopefully not the last!I went to pattaya last year and took the advice of a German friend. He said that I should get a taxi at the drop off point upstairs instead of going to the taxi area downstairs at BKK airport.Cheaper.Bad mistake!I got a taxi which looked O.K but as we drove along it turned out to be a banger, and he wanted more money for the toll roads.fair enough! On the other side of BKK he said "me stop for petrol".after filling up he couldent get the taxi to start again,so me and a bunch of Thai guys spent half an hour pushing the thing round the garage forecourt in the stifling heat. Not good after a flight from london! Then another taxi pulled in for petrol,so I asked the driver"you take me to Pattaya?".So I swapped taxis much to the protests of the first driver and off we sped .When we got to Pattaya he asks where I am to stay.Yensabai Mansions. He does not know where it is.Right in the middle of Pattaya there is an almighty BANG and smoke starts pouring from the engine and we come to a halt.Bale out quick!!i felt quite sorry for the poor guy. So I phone Mani my German buddy and ask him to come and get me.After about ten minutes he turns up on a moped, driving on the pavement!!Pedestrians scattering!!I paid the driver and added a bit on top,he was a very nice guy,and in a spot of bother. So I got on the pillion of the bike,a big German,me ,my bacpack, and a case, and drove back down the pavement from the direction Mani had come, pedestrians scattering!!So my advice to you is go to the downstairs taxi point and hire a limousine or good quality taxi.It may cost a little more but is hassle free. After a nightmare start to the holliday it turned out to be a fabulous holliday.Fell in love several times, but thats another story!!!!!By the way ,Yensabi Mansions was an excellent hotel, not far from Walking Street.I was on the 8th floor, brilliant views. have a great holiday, wish I was going soon.johnny59.

no problem with that

you actually can get a taxi at the stand , just before the exit, for less price or walk outside and pay around 3-400 baht more.

I have a driver mr. mong who will pick you up. He works for the travel agents and would rather go freelancing, and pick up customers on his own.

problem is, he doesn't have an e mail address, so when i return i'll spend an afternoon with him hooking him up with one. I'll have to call him to arrange a pick up.

his phone number is 01 861 6951 local. He'll do the run for 1,500baht and is a really nice guy speaks great English and is very helpful. This includes everything, but tip.

Other than that, I sent two girls packing in BKK to Pattaya and the hotel found a taxi for 1,500 baht. Until the guy saw me and upped it to around 1,800 baht. I wasn't going with them. One girl said something nasty to him and got out. She found the next taxi for 1,500 baht.

so to answer your question, yea any taxi will take you.

In answer to your question most BKK taxis will take you to pattaya in the daytime...........it's a litle more of a problem at night.........so if you go to a rank with say 3 taxis then most surely one will want to take you there...........

I normally pay about BHT1200 plus about BHT200 for tolls......no need to pay anymore than this......and you MUST negotiate the fare before you get in.......it will take about 2.5 hours depending on traffic

take the address of your hotel written in Thai if you can to show the driver....or even better take a map in Thai if you can get one off the web........

taxi you will get for around 1200-1500 since most of them are driving on gas and not gasoline, limosine will mostlikely cost you 1800+ since the gasoline price have gone over 28 bath a liter and just the gasoline cost will be over 1000 bath for the trip and if they don't get a return drive they wnat have much left on the trip

Exclamation

Just one thing to keep in mind. Few years ago arr Bkk exhausted from Hong Kong, got a taxi to Pattaya and found out during the trip that the driver had been working for 14 hrs and was about to end his shift. Instead of having a nice relaxing sleep spent the whole time trying to keep the driver awake; he was literally 3/4 asleep the whole way while driving even after giving him 3 red bulls. Now just take a small limo and have a nice relaxing trip.
