Anyone know "the potteen still" bar????
I got a taxi in Dublin last night and the driver (a Dub himself who speaks flunet Thai, he was a laugh... interesting Guy...) informs me he owns the potteen still in Pattaya.... He says its a great spot... Just wondering if anyone was in it lately??? I wasn't going to go to Pattaya at all, but this guy has me changing my mind!!!!
P.S. he reakons the girls in Phuket are all DOGS and way too expensive??????

I know the Poteen Still, it is on Soi Yamoto or Post Office can't remember which although only yards apart.
The Poteen Still is not a bar I use although a group of us had Christmas Lunch there a few years back. It is a drinkers bar rather than a place to search for pussy. His comments on Phuket have more than an element of truth attached to them as basically; Pattaya has far more stunners than Phuket however, Phuket is a more beautiful place.

ive been to both a good amount of times and id have to say that i think there is hotter girls in phuket but i also think there is enought o go around that if you cant find a stunner on any given night in LOS, your not looking good enough or gay!!

cheers for that fellas... The guy didn't/isn't going to put me off going to phuket, he was just rambling on in general about Thailand. He was very opinionated and had an awful lot to say for himself.
Regarding Pattaya... I hear that its more "full on" with a lot more of the older sex tourists visting there.... I dunno but is it worth visiting at all?

We all have our opinions on the best places to go in Thailand and I am definitely biased in favour of Pattaya over Phuket however. the very next poster shall probably have the opposite view to mine.
I don't know how long you are planning on staying in Thailand for Pad Mc but do not try to cram in too many different resorts in to say a two week period because, you shall spend a larger chunk of your holiday learning the knowledge and before you really get going it's all over.

There are more stunners in Pattaya, for sure. But then there are about 20 times more working women, so it follows.
On the other hand, Pattaya is more full of men with only one thing on their minds, and there are a lot of lager louts. In Phuket you're much more likely to hook up with some good guys, have a laugh and go round a few places in a group. The MTB is the obvious starting and finishing point for that! And there are still penty of stunners in Patong - you might just have to visit a few more bars to scope them out. Up to you! One thing though - Pentire makes the very good point that you shouldn't try and cram too much into a short time, in terms of different places. Don't forget, transferring from one place to the other takes the best part of a day when you add it all up. And if you only have a limited amount of time, that's a day wasted. For me, I always like to spend a few days each trip in BKK, bcause I think it's one of the world's most amazing cities. Combine that with just one longer trip to wherever you decide on - Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai, wherever - and you have a nice round trip with a bit of everything. Enjoy your holiday!

Sorry, just wanted to add - about older men.
There do seem to be a lot of older guys in Pattaya, much more than youy see around Phuket. I mean guys in their late 60s and older. They must have figured out a way to get their state pensions paid there! I had a regular girl there for a while and in the little block where she lived, she was practically the only tenant who wasn't a wrinkly old Brit. But there's no reason why it should make a difference, one way or the other, to your enjoyment. They certainly won't be starting trouble with you!

Cheers paddy and Pentire.. sounds like good advice. I will be there for 3 weeks (or 22 days) The loose plan at the moment would be to stay in BKK for at least 3 nights, then fly to phuket, probably stay around Patong for a week of doing fec all except chatting up the local talent etc
 . Then over via ferrys to samui for a few days, not sure??? but i wouldn't mind all the travel, i'd ideally like to see a good bit of the country, I would love to make it up to Chang mai too! But this will all probably change when i get there, I wouldn't be the best at following my own plans !!!!

Pattaya....
I was in Pattaya first week of this month ( June)
The latest T- shirts that were in the stores say " GOOD GUYS GO TO HEAVEN" " BAD GUYS GO TO PATTAYA" !!!!! PATTAYA CANNOT BE COMPARED TO OTHER PLACES.

Not been to Pattaya but was in Phuket and had no problem spotting some very attractive girls there.... Loved it so much that i cant wait to be back there.... I think also Phuket is a very relaxing place.... I have only heard about Pattaya and the legend that is walking street but it sounds a lot more full on.... From the sounds of it you cant compare the 2 but i will find out more when i eventually head to patts (got to do it just once to see for myself if the legends are true)
