Queen Victoria Inn/Pattaya location questions

Hi all,
I am heading to Thailand for the first time as a tourist this coming November. I decided it might be best to head strait to Pattaya. And now for the questions. I saw some decent reviews for the Queen Victoria Inn on a review site. But the reviews are pretty spaced out over the last 5 years. It has great prices at about 700 baht and looks nice. But here's the thing its on Soi 6 and after looking at maps it seems a bit far from Walking Street(But pretty close to the Sabai massage parlors and some beerbars ). I'm guessing it’s not going to be a fun walk at 30+ minutes. How is the transportation there? I'm sure I can get a baht bus to walking street and such, but how do I get back with guest? Do the girls mind taking the baht bus back (or can they), how late do they operate btw. Are there more conventional taxis and of course are they affordable? I’m sure if I was more sappy I would try and pass the walk back off as a romantic stroll down the beech but I would end up sweating way too much and for the wrong reason. I like the looks of the Queen Victoria, but it's location has me worried. I found another place that is closer but their website is down or non-existent Sunview Place. Any help/advice would be much appreciated guys.

Thanks in advance

queen vic...ok

hi

dont worry about the distance to walking st..baht buses pass at the end of the soi every 30 seconds or so and you will only pay 10 baht for the short 5 min ride to walking street and if you find the lady of your dreams for the evening you jump on a baht bus at the end of walking street and it will drop you on the corner of second rd and soi 6 or you could get on one of the motorbike taxis which seem to park on the corner of every soi...on another note though soi 6 is well known for its short time bars and you could happily spend a day cruising these.....as for the vic its self i have stayed there twice now and find it comfortable.one major bonus is the pub has a rear door so when you bar fine and bring your lady back for the evening you can go down soi 6/1 which runs parallel with soi 6 and into your room without being seen and called butterfly man by the other girls on the soi.......i love thai food and thats all i eat when i'm in los and now the girl friend is in england with me its all i eat here now too... but if your new to thai food the pub has a good selection of europeon food on its menu so you can always fall back to good old bangers and mash or burgers and fries..
i will be there in november also,so if you fancy a beer or two just drop me a line for meet up..
otherwise enjoy your first but i guarantee not your last trip to thailand..

hope this helps....

I agree with Shagfest.
By the way, I think most of those bars have a back door in Soi 6/1n, TJ bar certainly has.
Food in Queen Victoria is good and inexpensive.

1.Do taxis or tuk tuks operate in Pattaya, ie from walking street back to your hotel. And whats cheaper a taxi or a tuktuk, as ive been to Bangkok, and it is defenatly cheaper to get a taxi rather than a tuktuk.
2.Do busses run late then?, and do you have to have exact change for the buss, or can u pay with a 100 and get change?
Decided to give Bangkok a miss this year, straight to Pattaya from the airport, maybe 2 days in Bangkok on the way back home, maybe not.
Thanks in advance

hi ....hope these answers will help.

1. you have baht buses in pattaya which when you look at them they are all said and done pick up trucks with roofs and seats in them.there are also normal cars which are used as taxi's and as i have said before motorbike or scooter's which are used as taxi's which will happily take you to your destination parked on the corner of every soi.as for cost i would not pay more than 10 baht from soi 2 north pattaya to walking street (south pattaya)which is approx a 5 min ride or a 40 min walk if your feeling fit.i dont ever remember seeing tuk tuk's in pattaya ......

2. the baht buses run 24/7 and you will find the motorbike taxi's normally have a little shelter next to there bikes so they can grab a little shut eye when they have time, again they operate 24/7 they never close.
you may pay with a 100 baht note no probs but i find it easier to save the change from my beer sessions and pay for the taxi's this way....

3.you'll find if you have cash the blokes will take you where ever you want to go..

hope this helps you out

THE QUEEN VIC IS ON SOI YODASAK it is almost half way up the soi so whatever end you enter the soi you have to run the gauntlet of hundreds of girls most of them c division non lookers THE QUEEN VIC HAS NO SWIM POOL the only thing i would recomend it for is the food !

if you are detrmined to stay in a pub room i think the pig and whistle on soi 7 is in a more central location i personally would not stay in a hotel without a swim pool
