Apartments

Hi,

After I've been to Phuket I'm heading over to Pattaya for a month. I have a reservation for the Diamond City Place apartments for 9,000thb. I'm just a little nervous as I haven't found too many reviews about the place. I've chose it because it has wi-fi and most importantly a pool.

I also have an offer to reserve a room at the LK Pavillion, which seems quite similar but is 20,000thb. I received a PM off another board and the guy said the LK was twice as good, hence the price.

Just curious to know if any BMs from here have seen these two places?

Cheers.

I'm staying at the LK however, the Diamond Place is very close by so today I shall stroll over the road and take a look...Maybe take a pic or two.

As promised I took a look at Diamond City Place serviced apartments earlier today.
The standard rooms at 9500 per month are what I would call adequate for a short stay. However, versus LK Pavalion we are talking economy against biz class
I looked at both the standard and superior rooms which are 30 and 40 square meters respectivly. The furniture is very basic & beds low cost with a rather firm mattress. When I sat on the bed it rolled across the tiled floor a few inches so god knows where it would end up during a heavy shagging session.
The pool is tiny not much bigger than 16 square meters and the rooms do not have a safety box...They are behind reception.
Rooms are cleaned every day although sheets are only changed twice a week.
Other costs to consider are electric at 7 Baht a unit which would probably equate to 3000 Baht per month assuming a moderate use of A/C and a set charge of 350 Baht per month for water.
I know the LK is 10500 per month more however, that is only 150 quid & while on vacation we should not be too scotish in our decision regarding accomodation
Oh, the manager stopped me from taking photos, instead he refered me to the those on the web site which would have been taken when everything was brand new.
Compared to the two places, I am delighted to be where I am.

Thanks for the review

Can I ask how much extra your internet connection is at the LK, and is it a fairly decent speed?

Have you also got any decent cable channels on your TV?

Cheers.

The wireless connection at LK is free however not sure about the speed, I don't have a lap top and I use the internet cafe across the street which has some excellent terminals on high speed although not as quick as I use at home. Cost is 30 Baht per hour in the cafe.
The cable TV situation is the same for Diamond and LK, Both use Sophorn which is the local provider and channels such as BBC, CNN. Fox, ABC Asia Pacific (aussie) as well as two free movie stations, two music stations and Pattaya People and City News along with a hole host of Thai Channels. Downstairs in reception at LK we have UBC which also provides ESPN, Star Sports and Super Sport for the English Football.
I don't wat to put you off Diamond because it is decent value at that price although it really is worth spoiling youself a little and I have to say the babes love the huge comfortable beds at LK Pavalion.
