Are there any bars in Pattaya similar to the MTB where guys just go to chill out
Hi guys,
As the Thread states - are there any bars/clubs in Pattaya where a guy can go with his tilak thai (Thai Girlfriend) for a quiet drink amongst other Board Member types and just chill out for a chat...??????...

Theres a bar on soi post office called Suger hut or suger shack, there got a pool table and sport on TV, there's always a few blokes with there girlies, and the owner and staff are very friendly.
Just near the buffalo bar is "The Boxing Roo bar", nice place, good music, Usually the people in there are ok. Almost opposite roo bar is soi Lengee, there a few bars down there, Dang bar can be quite good some nights, and dead quiet others....very good when theres ozzie sport on.
have fun barflyrex

Good man slinga......you will love the place.....I will guarantee that buddy!!!!
Coyotee....Yeap that is......might not be around tho'......he lives in KL but tries to get over to Patts as often as possible........drop him a pm to check on his whereabouts when you are there........
either way you will still have a ball.......
and if you prefer a quieter drink with plenty of eye candy in a place that turns up the heat as the hour gets later...almost turns into a full on gogo by the end.....give Buffalo a go.....good vibe in there

I was in Patts. a month ago. The FLB bar was very quiet as a lot of the BGs have left for the new Secrets Bar/Hotel on Soi 14 just off Walking Street - very impressive establishment. I would also recommend Lennie's on Soi Diamond - once more just off Walking St. Lennie's has a good selection of beers/single malts, some charming hostesses and is run by a friendly Manager called Paul.

Okay, I get the message about FLB! lol.....
Some good recommendations here and also in IJ's tour report.
This is going to make things easier for me next month. Pattaya is huge and daunting for a first timer, and I dont want to waste time in crap venues (only there for 4 nights).
Cheers.

Despite the negative comments here, I have to say that I had some great nights in the FLB bar during my September trip, the parties were especially good, and there were some fine looking girls working there, I BF,d one and she was an outstanding performer, Obviously during low season no bars are operating at 100% but make your own mind up, if its no good , vote with your feet.

There's a sh1t load of places where the atmosphere is relaxed, depends what you are looking for in a night out though.
If you want really quiet, somewhere like Soi Buakow and the surrounding sois might fit the category.
If you want live music, away from the P4P scene then perhaps the blues factory or Hot Tuna bar would suit your needs.
Personally I would recommend some of the open beers bars in Walking st, especially right across from Jenny Star bar, great for people watching.
You do raise a good question though, will there be some kinda HQ for the bm's on here while in patts, similar to what we have in patong with MTB.

Very good point BB (by the way, hello mate, long time no speak!)
At the moment I don't think there is one. Maybe Nicke should think seriously about opening MTB2, as a lot of the BMs do seem to be spending more and more time there! How about it Nicke?
Meanwhile, to answer the original question, I'd recommend the string of bars on Second Road, heading from the Lek Hotel towards the main crossroads and Walking Street. The one right next door to the Lek is good - it's run by a young lad who's half Thai, half Scunthorpe! He has the most bizarre accent! But he loves a party atmosphere and does everything to make good customers feel welcome. The second time I met him, me and a mate went in around midday - badly hung over - for a sharpener. He came straight over, shook hands, wouldn't let us pay for our bloody marys and thanked us for a great night the night before. He had to fill us in on a few details before I even remembered that we'd been in there!
For us, the pick of the bunch on that little strip was a bar called La Bodega, on the corner of 2nd road and soi 13 (or maybe 12). It does have BGs and a live band but it's very low key, more about drinking and chilling out. Plus it has a great Indian restaurant next door and a sandwich bar across the street and you're welcome to bring grub back from there.
