Hi Falanger I am also booked in there for 2 days in January 10th and 11th but it looks fine to me.
What more do you need besides a big bed, air con, and a little brown honey?
They got me for 2000 baht per night so you did o.k I reckon. Enjoy

Thing is falanger there is not any great accommodation to be had on Samet............but the rooms are pretty adequate for the price...........and the situation right on the beach will make up for any shortcomings..... if you chill and don't let Thai island style service bother you...laid back and not really there........you will have a nice relaxing time...provided the comapny you bring is worthwhile...

I stayed at Saikaew Beach Resort in September..The bungalows was ok but not anything special for the price i paid...IMO Samet Hotels is well overpriced..Good place to chill out on the beach for some days (very nice beach)..But i will recommend Koh Chang if you travel from Pattaya and want to spend some days on an nice Island.I have been to Koh Chang 4 times now and never get enough of the place..
