Back from Cambodia and in Pattaya again and again

Back from Cambodia. It takes awhile to figure things out sometimes. I'm glad I taught English in Korea to figure out sometimes people just plain don't understand you. What really gets me is when you translate in the native tongue, get a person to translate for you and they still mess it up.

OK, good stuff.

The business visa is $25 dollars and it's good for one month. THe difference between a business visa and tourist visa is you can extend your business visa. The one year visa is $250 dollars to $290 dollars (depending where you get it from).

Best bars in Cambodia was

The sugar shack The Sugar Shack. It is a small bar with six or seven hostesses, all very friendly. Too bad too many people don't know about this bar or it would be packed every night. I like to keep it to myself, but I think I can share it here with you guys if you go there. It's located one block from the national musuem.

In Cambodia I needed some model releases scanned and copied onto a disk. I told the receptionist and scanner (with help from a translator and in English with a written copy) of what I needed. They screwed it up regardless.

The worst restaurant bar was Jungle Bar and Grill. It took about an hour and a half to get the food to me and then it was cold. I had to send it back. I was on my fourth beer by the time it arrived.

Asia Air same way, had to change my flight back. I lost my ticket and had to buy a new one due to the restrictions on the flight. A travel agent called and they said to show up and they would put me on the flight for free. I showed up and I wasn't on the flight. I called the airlines and was told "I never checked in." and my flight was "the day before not today." I went off. The receptionist finally told me "I don't care."

It doesn't rival Nick The Pizzadelivery service in Pattaya. Two hours into waiting I called (and the receptionist at the hotel calling an hour earlier) only to find out they haven't even started to make the pizza. I told them to forget it. She asked me "why?" Worst Service in Pattaya

Shanghai Bar , bought six ladies drinks and three for myself along with food. The manager, the assistant manager only glared at me and never came over to introduce himself, thank me for coming or anything. This is a small city and ex pats and others are desperately needed to keep these bars alive and they can't say thank you for spending over $50 dollars in their bar. Can't figure.

Went to Angelwitch , now this is a great bar. I love it. The sliding down the bat pole, awesome I only saw this one time in the Philippines.

The Beach club is great, I like girls dancing on stage high. Reminds me of the Steve Martin Joke. Put women high on a pedastal. High enough so you can look up their dress.

Diamond a Go Go. Oh My God. They had the hottest showgirl I've seen since I have been here. A great bod, awsesome dragon tatoo on her back. I shit you not, she was hot. (Please don't tell me it's a lady boy.)

Honey a Go Go has a hot door girl. Friendly dancers, they may not be good looking, but they are friendly and the most friendliest in town.

Well enough now Take care

Cheers for the report Sultan.

I intend to have a look around Phnom Penh on my next trip over in the new year sometime. I haven't done a lot of planning yet, but I will hopefully be going from PP to Vietnam overland.... Probably fly from BKK to PP and take it from there.

Did you sort your visa before going or in BKK?

If you want a business visa for Cambodia then get this in BKK - if you are not intending a long trip then you can get visa on arrival for $20 at PP airport.

If you plan a long trip get the business visa upon arrival $25. Then after 25 or so odd days you can extend it. If you want to make it 1 year prior to arriving find the local embassy or travel agent and pay the $250 dollars. Saves the headache of going and extending every 30 days.

BTW, went to Tattoo last night. Now, if I walk into a bar and look at the dancers and the first words out of my mouth is, oh my god. Then they have some good lookers. Coyotee also.

visa

I forgot, you can get the visa at the airport, just fill out the paperwork on the plane. Many people wait until they get there. I got off the plane, no one was waiting in line, handed over the paperwork and was out in 5 minutes.

Take a passport size photo with you and tell the person you give the paperwork to you want a business visa. Pay at the end when you get your passport back.

Make sure you don't bring ripped bills, they don't like to accept them. Funny, they give you dirty old ripped up Cambodian currency as change, but won't take a dollar bill that has a minor tear in it.

Good info, Sultan. Thanx. I will be sure to check out the Sugar Shack. It is only a block and a half from the hotel I stayed at. Don't know how I missed it!

In Defense of Jungle Bar

Nice TR and I agree whole heartedly about the Sugar Shack being an undiscovered gem - Sarina the owner is quite the character. But I have to add my own experiences and humble opinion of the Jungle Bar - I liked it.

Great music, interesting crowd, free high speed internet and having made it my regular spot for my week in PP I have to say the food is good and in my cases arrived hot and timely.

Good points also about the passport photos (if you don't have one they charge you $20 - and never take your picture!) And don not bring and do not accept as change any ripped bills, yoiu will have a hard time using them.
