the cockroaches were no problem the girls seemed to be quite happy to get them for us as we stood on our beds screeming.one even had to take 2 splats of the shoe as it climbed back out of the bin.rooms were cleaned and bedding changed every day.but were not ready when we got there,we had to wait outside as the cleaned them, leason learned thats what you get for 450bht a night.

I stayed at lovely hotel I think on the beach road with a huge property leading back to the hotel. It used to have a elephanr wondering the gardens. This was in 89 and was at the top end of beach rd near a large bend. I cannot remember the name of it but would like to stay there again. Can anyone help with the name of the place or if it is still there.

Les 1999 you are right the elephants name was Dumbo and the poor thing was chained up in a gazebo most of the time although it did break free one day while my wife and I where at the pool on the sun lounges. I was reading a book and the damn thing stuck its trunk in my face. I sh-t myself. I thought the pool was the best option even though it was small it may have weighed half a ton and didn't feel like kissing elephant.

I stayed at Dolphin House @ Soi Lenki. A bit further away from all the action but its like 20-40 Baht with a motorbike taxi. Clean rooms with airco and cable TV, very nice people and no guest charge. Paid 400 a night

Anna Jet! You get what you pay for!
What are you guys whining about .. you get a double bed , hot water , refrigerator a TV and a huge balcony for 5000thb a month in the middle of it all , can you ask for more?
Do you have any idea´of how many BG´s live´s in worse rooms like the one you probably got for ST?
4-6 of them!
I know as i lived there for a month and had a bunch of them as next door neighbors , not a pretty site!
Your staying there to sit in your room all day and night or what? This is Thailand , not a luxury western country ... cockroaches .. for FFS .. have you guys never been to the Jungel?? 555
