yes, they are very strict now after the coup.
New regulations (No. 69963478 of the Moral code) by the military junta now enforce that all foreign men must wear closed heel shoes, long trousers and long-sleeved shirts before enteirng nightime entertainment establishments.
In addition, all men must be cleanly shaven and have normal regulation haricuts (I.e. no shaved heads allowed, due to the criminal factor).
Additionally, you will be refused entry if you have tattoos on your neck, hands or forearms, no gaudy, tasteless jewellery or pommy soccer shirts will be tolerated either..

I will plan accordingly
yobbo glad to hear you have not lost your sense of humor. Guess shorts and sandles are okay. I know that some of the bars in BKK have a dress code LA and New York will not even look at you unless you are dressed "right".

In fact, you will feel out of place if you DON'T have a skinhead haircut, tattoos on your neck, gaudy jewelry and are wearing your favourite pommy soccer shirt....

Same rules apply for there as any disco in the western world. If you look like trash, chances are people will think you are.

Hmm what to wear to a disco, should i go with the flip flops or perhaps a pair of sneakers or shoes. I think the obvious choice would be flip flops.

Or you can just wear a Red Bull or Singha Beer singlet, so everyone knows you're on holidays.

I loved wearing my 'Good boys go to heaven, bad boys go to Pattaya' shirt. It looked great on me with my drunken head and a neck full of mosquito bites
