No idea about costs.
Accuracy :
Quote:
Standard HIV antibody (ELISA) tests are at least 99.5% accurate when it comes to detecting the presence of HIV antibodies. This high level of sensitivity however means that their specificity (ability to distinguish HIV antibodies from other antibodies) is slightly lowered. Once an individual is out of the window period, it is more likely that they will receive a false positive result than a false negative.
Any HIV positive result given by an ELISA test must therefore be confirmed using a second test.
|
But , remember that any HIV test is only "accurate" when it is done, next time the person gets involved in any "high risk" activity , then all bets are off !!!
Also , there is no point in your GF having a test unless you have had one as well.

A rapid HIV test is also an antibody test. The advantage of a rapid test is that you do not have return to get your test result. The test results from a rapid test are usually available in approximately 30 minutes. Rapid tests are single-use, and do not require laboratory facilities or highly trained staff. This makes rapid tests very suitable for use in resource-limited countries.

well I can't remember the price......as I haven't had one....but you can get the instant ones done in hundreds of high street shops in Pattaya..and I think for around 300bht
Not that you would want to base your whole life around that result....the only sure ones are the ones you wait some months for....and even then these are not fool proof

This is untrue, a HIV test may not come up positive if the person being tested has contractes HIV in the last 3 months, no HIV test is "accurate" when it is done as contraction within the last 1-3 months is not detected.
If your sure that your girlfriend or you has not had any sexual intercourse in the last 3 months then the test will be true.

I used the phrase "accurate" purely in relation to the actual test results .

600 baht at the clinic just off Walking Street and Beach Road next to World Gems. Takes about 15 minutes to get your results back.
When I went, 9:30am on a Monday morning, the place was staffed by about 6-8 employees. There were approx 8-10 laydees getting tests of one sort or another.
Pretty professional as far as I could tell. As far as giving you a through blood test....I imagine they give quite a few there and should be able to distinguish between blood that is HIV+ or HIV-.
