Planning next trip, Pattaya?
I have only be there once. Was with my lady, just a few days in September. It rained all the time and you could walk to your waist in the water.
But I am planning my next trip and want something else then Phuket. Now I know that Pattaya is still more hussle then Phuket. But honestly, please don't crusify me, I had much problems finding real stunners in Phuket last trip. Had some, but there were not many.
When I see Thai Jane pictures, I have the impression that there are much more younger girls and stunners in Pattaya. When I am alone that is the main reason.
I have been in Koh Samui, so that is not much to explore. Now as you all now, I am a bit particular.
In Phuket I like to stay in Kata, as it is not so much in your face as Patong, which is not that far away any way. I like a bit of fun, in the evening, a bar, a go-go and the search for ladies. But not every night. In general when I find a real stunner, then after a few days, I prefer to stay with her, and enjoy, beach, a nice restaurant a cocktail in a more charming place then a girlie bar, live-bands.
So I would like to stay somewhere not too far from the action, 15 minutes on a bike. Is the beach a biit further better Jon tien or something? I don't like to stay in a big hotel, but in a quieter area in a house/bungalow, or in a small, clean, charming place.
Also I would like to know, if I want to get away from the madness, if it is nice to go somewhere outside Pattaya to ride the bike. I was also thinking, if I could find a girl I like a bit to take her to Koh Chang. Went to Samet 10 years ago and was not trilled.
So if you guys have some ideas to organize my trip, you are welcome, and thanked! Place to stay, cocktailbars, places to find girl, things to see...
Oh and I will be there mid-November and going still a week after this.

Knowing your preferences I would say Pattaya is the opposite of what you like / enjoy..

There is some truth in that....But there is more to the coast there then Pattaya itself. If you read my post well, it is not the purpose to spend all my holliday there. The first week of my holiday, I like to fool around, so I think I would not be dissapointed by the choice of ladies there and at least there will be a lot to discover there. After a week, I would move on to Koh Chang, and maybe drive the coastline a bit to discover other places.
But if you say that that I cannot find a bit outside Pattaya, a few quiter places, nice restaurants or that there is no place I can see a band, yes then I have to reconsider....

A lot more stunners in Pattaya. I was amazed as there are richer holiday makers in Phuket. But... a lot more (sex) tourists in Pats, and (as a Thai told me) it is a lot closer to Issaan, so cheaper and easier to get home by bus.
Stay around Pattaya, like Jomtien or another place, and go to Pats when you feel the need.

You got me right Captain, that is the main reason.
Could you have an idea of a good place to stay, maybe a bungalow, with a small garden?

tintin,
i think i know you and your likes and dislikes from meeting you and being on this board so long
i do not think there is anyway in hell that you will enjoy pattaya
i do understand your desire to go with a stunner since your wife is pretty and might as well not downgrade
i think you would really enjoy Hua Hin, perfect place for you
but not too many stunners there

Woaw, another one!
Well like Captain stated, I am looking more to find a cosy bungalow in Jomtien.
I know the beach is not that nice as in Kata, but as long I can go around with a bike, to some more remoted places I do not care. I also like to go to a go go once and a while and they should be better then in Phuket, where thre is nothing to see.
The first days, it will be trying to collect some stunners, Pattaya is perfect for that. Really, the girls were very average in Phuket last trip. I found what I needed, but I came home alone a few days, not finding a decent girl.
Like Paul said very well, if she is not prettier then my wife, why bother....
I will be staying only a week in the area. I hope to find a girl I like, then move a bit further on the coast (about 100 km!) stay a few days in a charm hotel I know. The owner is French. Then a few days Koh Chang, then a week in Phuket before the wife arrives. Stay a few days more in Phuket, and then I will try to visit with my wife some areas, I haven't been before, maybe cross the border to Laos.

I understand again, that people are concerned that it will not be my cup of tea.
But hey, one week will not kill me, except my stick of joy.

Always thought that Phuket was the place to go for the natural beauty. Great beaches etc. Plenty of girls but nothing compared to the numbers in Pat.
The sheer numbers are just mind boggling you won't give a shit about the dirty beach.

I think this is a bit unfair, Paul. In fact I have complained about one single trip. That trip, every guy I met, was complaining. In 20 years, it was the only time, I was not so happy in PHuket.
I read sometimes messages about less known BM, complaining about 4 days of rain in a row. I had 6 weeks, and went 3 times to the beach in that time. I had a remoted bungalow, and there were evenings that I could neither go out to have dinner, neither catch a girl..... No tuk tuk to jump in that neighberhood either. Taking it well most of the time, there were indeed moments I hoped for a bit of sunshine. Why do you think I live in Southern France: I hate rain!
Some of the guys I met didn't go back the next year, but I still tried to make the best of it. If you are in the center of Patong, well there is always a way to get somewhere to at least pick up a girl.
For Pattaya, I don't see why I should complain. I know it is more in your face, but that is just what I need for A WEEK. First even if it is not so beautiful, it will be nice to discover some area's I don't know, I don't plan to stay in the city all the time, second, I want a big choice of girls, and am planning to scre* as mas manny of stunners I can.
What you are right about, I don't have to hang all evening in a bar, getting drunk with a lot of people. Just not my thing! I do love to wander around the town, go in to a place watch people and birds, find a spot I have never been, sit to a nice girl at the bar and try to know her better, every inch of her.
Don't think I am a lonely sad guy! A BM will join me part of my trip, and another friend from Canada, will be there at another time, proberly in Phuket.
I also like go's go's like the one's in BKK, so if it rains I will not care! So if people DO have some sugestions for me and my BM friend, preference in Jomtien, where we can have a drink in the evening, with a girl on our lap (I am not so found of hotels), while thinking about the one we will have the next day!

Trip booked and happy!
I will stay in Jomtien here.
Thailand Central Region Holiday villas villa - Serene oasis in the heart of magical city
My friend will be on the next block in a nice appartements. I looked around on the intenet, and this will be great. Many nice restaurants, a bit more upscale, and I have a pool, like at home where I can jump in with my Adam costume!
So for 8 days, this can't go wrong! Three guys, with the same taste as I, leaving each other enough freedom and Pattaya 10 minutes away. A poolparty is also planned!
Who knows if I like it, not only for the girls, I will make it a regular! So then Chiang Mai for the 24 th November festivities, and then my French friends will accompagne me to Kata.
If my wife comes when they are gone, I hope to end my trip in Hua Hin or Koh Chang.
