Coming in July
Hello all. 7 of us Aussies are heading over in July for the Asian Cup. 2 Nights Bangkok, 7 nights Pattaya, 2 Nights Bangkok. We are all in our 40's. I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for preferred bars, clubs etc. Any information is good information.
PS: Thaks to everybody for the help so far, it is appreciated. We are all first timers

Here's an idea for you... Look up the posts of Mav, Easyrider_au, Visa2003, les1999, Mai Chob, Aussie Dollar, et. al. and see what they get up to. Just click on their name in any given thread and you can view their posts from the past.
Also, try the search function on the things you like to do... but, 7 Aussie's in Thailand for the first time... I am "sure" you will find what you are looking for.

With 2 nights in Bangkok, you may way to give both Nana and Soi Cowboy a go. Lots of bars in Soi 4 and 8 as well as Beer Garden in Soi 7 and some in Soi 7/1.

As TM mentioned it is street (or side street). Soi 4, more correctly would be Sukhumvit, Soi 4 as it is the 4th side street on Sukhumvit Road.
See example map:

I have just received confirmation on our bookings in July. The trip has been booked by one of the guys with us (who is not short of a quid unlike the rest of us) we are booked into the Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok and the Dusit Resort Pattaya. I have checked these out and i believe they are very nice but they are NOT G/F. Can anybody tell me what my options are if i cannot use the hotel i am staying at.

* Booking the room as a stay for two people might help - Mr and Mrs Irishozzy. This might limit you to one gal, if it works at all. (No experience doing this tactic)
* Cough up the joiner fee each night.
* Rent a short-time room.
* Stay overnight at a cheap but decent Guesthouse (~600Baht or less in Pattaya)

When I stayed at the Holiday Inn Silom a few weeks ago I checked in properly with a lady friend- reservation for two. At no point when we entered the hotel later and headed for the elevators did anyone question my company of a Thai lady.
On another occation (elsewhere) did I stay in a not-so guest friendly hotel. I had booked for two and the first lady I brought back was registered. The next time the doorman pointed me and the (new) lady to the front desk I said: "Already checked in for two room 1234". He went to the desk and checked and we went on. One small problem with this technique is that her license is not collected and you loose a bit of security.

Ok, heres a strange question for you. If you were with a group of guys (7) and wanted to go to one Bar in Pattaya and One bar in Bangkok where would you go. We would like a bar that is not over the top busy and one with plenty of girls. A bar that wont rip us off and a bar that is friendly. I kknow you will tell me we should try a few, and we will but if you had to choose one, which would it be.

It's very much personal choice and personal experience that makes people enjoy a bar. Just walk down Soi Cowboy in BKK or Walking St in Pattaya and poke you heads into a few go-go's, there all within a few hundred metres of eachother, you'll find one that fits the bill.

If any one such bar was known to all, it would either be busy or no girls left (or both). Do some bar hopping and explore.
