Bangkok to Pattaya
I hate to jack anyone's thread so I'm starting my own. I do not know much about Pataya at all. What is the cheapest way to get to Pataya from Bangkok? How much will a taxi fare cost one way? Also, what part of Pattaya should i stay in?
FYI, I'm going with a buddy of mine. We're both singles and in our mid 20's. We're going there to drink, party, have fun, massages, all the good things we guys love to do....
If you're going to reply saying I should use the "search" option, please do not reply, as it is a waste of your time typing and a waste of my time reading.
Thanks in advance!

Taxi will cost between 1000-1500bht from bangkok to pattaya one way.
There are plenty of hotels all near the action it depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to pay.
Check out Walking Street, soi 6, Hell club, Soi2/3 pattaya 2nd rd soapies as well I also like to go to the Cherry beer bar soi 8.

Lose the attitude there fella.
If you'd have typed Pattaya Transport into the search function, you'd have come across the answer concerning fares etc.

I apologize if my post came out as an attitude. I probably was not typing the right things during search. I've been reading this forum for quite awhile, and too often, have I seen someone reply with "use the search". Again, sorry! Any and all advice is appreciated, thank you!

Catch the Bus from the eastern bus station straight to Pattaya (150bht), about 2 hours, job done. Baht bus to Beach Road 20bht. Cheap as chips.
From the new airport bus station to Patts, 110bht, takes about 1 3/4 hours or a bit less all depending on traffic.

The "cheapest" option has been idenified by Bluntman, so that's that query taken care of.
Regarding where to stay, it depends really whether you want to stay and sleep right in the middle of the busiest centre of action, or prefer somewhere a short distance away (10 minutes walk, or 2 minutes by baht bus).
As a first-time visitor, I think MAYBE it might be worth staying out of Walking St. But it is hard to tell from your post. Central Pattaya around Soi Diana, or Soi 7-8 is a good compromise - easy access to/from Walking St at all hours of day/night.

You won't save much on the bus. Get a taxi from the taxi stand downstairs.
How much do you want to spend on a hotel? Do you want a pool?

I'm going with a buddy of mine. So we'll be splitting the hotel, probably $20US each person? However, I do want a room to myself a night or two. q=)
I just need a room with good AC, and hot water. Pool is a nice addition, if price is not too crazy.
I was in Thailand last November and went to Koh Samui. But this time of the year, since it's the low-season, I figured it wont be much fun there.
From what I've gathered so far, it's basically the Walking St where everything is happening, much like how Sukumvit is the main attraction for Bangkok?

Sharing a room with your mate??
I'd rather get a cheapish room each for $20. You will need your privacy.
Have a look at the hotels listed within the link at the top of this forum. They all give availability and prices.

How low is your budget!? It can't be that bad man. It can ruin your trip sharing as I never found out because of nightmare stories. It sounds like what you need is a couple of rooms in Anna Jet Bar. Not luxurious but 25 chicks in a bar downstairs & dirt cheap accomodation! Also in the middle of crazytown with a baht bus to Walking Street for 10 bht! Wot more do you want?
