Soi 7 hotels other than Flipper House?

Looks like I waited too long to book my hotel. The only hotel I've ever stayed at in Pattaya, the Fliiper House, is fully booked in late November. I'm trying the Fliiper Lodge now but I'm guessing that is booked as well. Any other mid range hotels on Soi 7 or 8? I've read about a place called Sumbeam but it seems expensive and has gotten bad reviews. I like the area around Soi 7 so that's where I would like to stay again if possible.

several options...

I stayed at flipper about 8 years ago (?) and it was ok. The Eastany hotels are ok as well and in the same area. Also, Sunshine is in the area and there is another hotel that is popular in the area but its name escapes me at the moment My preference is the Residence Gardens but may be hard to get right now. It gets some "-" reviews due to its location and perennial road construction out front but once you figure out the baht bus system (takes about 10 seconds of thought) it is really quite convenient. And now that a convenience store is across the street...

thanks for your help guys. Looks like I've got about 5 I can look up. The Flipper Lodge was full as well. I did check Eastiny and the only issue I have with them is it doesn't look like you know what type of room you are going to get until you show up.

MY MATE stayed at the eastiny only last month he recomends it highly

another place to try (just a little further away ) is the sabai lodge hotel on soi 2 as you may know soi 2 is an area similar to soi7/8 lots of beer bars and a couple of go go bars also 5 of the biggest massage places in pattaya.

its only a 5 minute 10 bhat ride on a bhat bus to soi 7/8 the sabai inn does not have a pool but you can use one of the 4 swim pools at the sisiter hotel sabai lodge which is just accross the soi from it price for room at sabai inn is 1050 bhat a night Sabai Inn - Cosy and Comfortable like home

Thanks. I sent a request to the Eastiny. I checked out their site and clicked on the location.
Eastiny Pattaya - Eastiny Group It looks like they have 5 different hotels in that area. If one is full I would hope one of the others has room.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stayed at the Sunbeam about a year ago for four or five nights - nothing wrong with it. If Soi 8 is a must then stay there if Flipper and Eastiny are full. Sunbeam is more of a package hotel, plenty of fellow mongers but bus loads of package types as well.
Sabai Lodge is good and highly recommended - better facilities (arguably) than anything else mentioned here.
If "thick of the action" is more what you are after then my favourite dive, the Diamond Beach Hotel in Soi Diamond, off Walking Street is about 10 metres from several bars and a go go places - very noisy but if you are sober enough for that to be a problem then you are in the wrong hotel and if you plan to use their roof-top spa then bring your own chlorine, anti-biotics and a condom big enough to cover your whole body while immersed. That said, I love the place. Enjoy.

not a big soi 6 fan although I don't hate it. I like beer bars more than gogos I guess is the reason. I usually pay 20 or 30 baht for a scooter ride to Walking ST depending on how safe I felt the trip was so that's not bad. And, of all the gogos I've been in in Pattaya I've found I like Silver Star on Soi 8 the best,

I sent an email to Eastiny two days ago and on their site it says 24 hour return but I haven't heard anything back yet. The Flipper House does have rooms available from Dec 5 so I sent them an email telling them I'd take it but again, two days and haven't heard anything back from them yet either.

Is the Flipper Lodge on Soi 8 Guest Friendly. The reason I ask is that I stayed there last month (Sep 2007) but my GF checked in with me with no problem. But I was wondering if there would be a problem if I checked in and she joined me a few days later. I really liked the place. The room (superior 1200 baht) - there were other rooms for 1080 and 800) was excellent...the rooftop pool (and the view) was great.

big difference between hotel confirmations

I got back a response from both the Flipper House and Eastiny Inn. I'm staying at both of them. They have a big difference in policy on how you book. Flipper House is a logistical mess. Eastiny basically just said thanks, see you when you get here.
Eastiny....

Look forward to seeing you in November.

Best regards,
Natruethai Boonsri

I've never had anything like that from Flipper House. I have stayed there three different years and never had anything but a confirmation email with no request for a deposit. Maybe it is a change in policy, or the late hour you plan on arriving? Perhaps you should call and clear it up, or change hotel plans. Good luck.

I've stayed there the last two years and have never had to go through any of that. I know that I am not going to wire them money and then fax them some slip. Maybe I'll just book those days at the Eastiny instead.

Is booking through Asiarooms.com or Hotelthailand.com an option for Flipper? If it is you will probably not have to jump through hoops that you do with dealing with hotel direct. Not sure if this Flipper is listed on those sites. Just throwing this thought out there in case it helps.

I sent an email to Flipper House telling them I am a returning customer (and would reserve by credit card) and got a back another somewhat confusing email but I think I'm good. Just have to call them.

Thank you very much for you reply , we do apologize for any
inconveneince cause , we not accept for credit card number .

Anyway , if you can not transfer money to us for sure and no have
friend in Pattaya at the moment , also we have to confirm your booking and
accepted to keep room for you in this time ( we offer for a regular
guest only )

We would like to confirm your booking on period 5 - 11 December 2007 ,

1 deluxe room in B-wing , the room rate @ 1,200.- on room only per
night .

On 5 December when you arrive to Bangkok already you have to call to
let us know again by phone number 038 - 361667 or 038 - 361668 , this
is very important .

See you on 5 Dec 2007 .

Best Regards,

Reservation Dept.

It seems logic that they want a deposit. If you want a room and they have to keep it till 2200, they loose money if you don't show up. If they have free rooms it is possible to rent them in the afternoon, but not that late in the evening. Lots of hotels in Europe will keep rooms till 1800, but not longer, except if they were noticed of late arrival and roomrate paid before.

I agree. I'm always amazed whenever a hotel allows you to book a room without some payment. That's why I would have no problems securing it by credit card.
