Pattaya Hotels - booking ahead

A question for you regular Pattaya patrons. I have booked one nights accommodation in Pattaya in mid November. My mate and I plan on staying a week, but thought it advisable to book one night in advance at the Sunshine Hotel & Residences. We got a pretty good deal over the Internet. ie. lower than their advertised prices. Now does anyone know whether Pattaya hotels tend to get booked up quite heavily around mid November? We were thinking if we don't like the hotel we can have a look around once we are there and find another one. The disadvantage being that 1) we may like the hotel but find it fully booked once we are there and can't extend our stay and 2) Other good value hotels (around the 1000 baht per night range) are also booked up. So my question is... is it advisable to book for longer, or should we be OK booking one night and then playing it by ear from there? Is mid Nov a busy time of year?

Thanks Jonny. I may do that... haven't heard any bad reviews about the hotel in question so probably worth the risk. Hopefully they are "BG" friendly!

Yes, they are BG friendly. Just as a back up Jonny... can you recommend any other good hotels located centrally in Pattaya? Sunshine is in Soi 8. Looking for around 1000 baht per day, girl friendly, ideally with a decent swimming pool.

Thanks Jonny. Just checked with my hotel and they can't even guarantee me a double bed... which seems a bit shoddy! So maybe I won't book a few more days with them!

Stayed there 2 years ago. At that time it was in need of refurbishment. No problem with taking guests back.

I've just come back from Patts and stayed at the Dynasty Inn on Soi 13 - very clean, friendly and, I thought, reasonable - I think 1480baht p/n High season, tho I only paid 1280..........I recomend it as its not far from Walking Street and only about 2 mins from the beach.

I would be a little cautious with that statement. I am seen reports than many hotels, in particular the more desirable once, are filling up; especially towards the end of the month..

i would never book a hotel in pattaya, even not over christmas.
some hotels (e.g. the sandy spring in soi 13) are booked up, but generally there are enough rooms everywhere in pattaya. nobody has to sleep on the beach.

Perhaps that works for you and I don't doubt you have been correct, however, in giving advise to others who may not be as familiar or flexible I would be a little more conservative.

Nonetheless, anyone reading our dialog here should be cable of making an informed decision.

This may sound like a stupid question. Whatever, I'm a newbie here. About paying for hotels, it seems that online deals are better than waiting till you get to the hotel to pay, so my question is this: how do you actually get the discounted internet price? Is it attained by paying online with a credit card(Otherwise you would pay the non-internet price at the hotel)? And/or could you, after booking online, not have to pay online by credit card and will be charged the lower rate at the hotel as they would know you had booked online at a lower price?

Hi PL;

Book and pay online at the time of booking and you get the discounted price. I guess the discount pays for itself since the hotel are sure to get their money and in some cases get it months before you arrive.

If you email a hotel direct they may do a deal with you via email and let you pay that "discounted" price on arrival - IMHO this practice is becoming less common but can still work for return visits to smaller hotels.

Hope that helps. Enjoy.

THE HOTEL YOU ARE BOOKED INTO THE SUNSHINE HOTEL IS ON SOI 8 its 100% g/f

i would recomend you book at one of the following three hotels all in that same area eastiny place hotel soi 8 /flipper lodge and flipper house at opposite ends of soi 7 i have just booked into flipper lodge for 4 nights in october/november no deposit was asked for 1500 bhat a night with sea view and newly refurbished they also have rooms with no sea view for 1200

many bms stay at areca lodge which is a little bit off the main strip for my liking also they insist on full credit card payment for your stay when you book

sabai inn on soi 2 great hotel 1050 bhat a night you can use all the facilities at the sabai lodge which is directly accross the soi from it 2 rstaurants/4 swimming pools and the bhat busses heading to south pattaya go down soi 2 all day and night and on way back just get off at 2nd road and walk 5 minutes down the soi your hotel Sabai Inn - Cosy and Comfortable like home sabi lodge is obviously the better of the 2 hotels but cheapest room there is 2.700 a night much better to use sabai inn where the rooms are still great with huge beds and then use facilities at sabai lodge

I stayed at the Mecure just off second road and read up on many posts that it was gf but it wasnt, i know i should have emailed the hotel before i booked but it was december and i hadnt booked anything and whatever i went for was already full so i was kinda desperate. Had F**king pay 500baht everytime i brought back a girl and after 2 weeks and everynight having a little friend with me it starts to hurt the pocket a little with the bar fine and paying the lady.. I wasnt happy but i still done it, im not gona let a couple buck spoil my holiday. But just to let everyone know Mecure in Pattaya is not gf, but is a beautiful hotel, staff are great...

I'm bringing my parents to Pattaya for a few days later in the year as part of a multi-resort tour of Thailand and for that reason their in the Mecure hotel and me and my mate will be in the Pattaya Bay Resort next door.

The must have changed their tune.
I stayed there a year ago and no problems bringing guests.

That said I wasn't terribly impressed with the hotel and the location. Back then, however, there wasn't a shortcut to 2nd road, even then that shortcut is not nearly as convenient as it is for Pattaya Bay Resort.
