Accomodation in South Pattaya
Hi guys,
The camp I was going to train with in Phuket have been a little dodgy with me, demanding too much money up front, so it seems I may be going to stay in Pattaya now. There's another gym I've been looking at which is situated in South Pattaya. I'm a little scared to hire a Scooter to be honest, so was wondering if any of you knew of some reasonably priced {up to 15000 B a month} accomodation in that sort of area? Alternatively, how difficult and expensive would it be to live more centrally and commute to the gym via taxi/bus?
Many thanks in advance for your help

South Pattaya is a very busy part of town and many nice options would be available to you for 15k per month especially in the area of Soi Buakeow or on Third Rd where I stayed for 6 months in 06-07.
Just depends how much space you need ?
Don't be put off hiring a scooter, you soon gain confidence and an automatic Yamaha Nuovo is as easy as riding a push bike.

Pattaya is the easiest place in Thailand I know to get around....songtaew taxi vans circulate the Beach Rd and 2nd Road constantly, jump on, jump off and only 10 or 20 baht a trip.
Take a look at Sabai Lodge, and email sabailodge99@csloxinfo.com and see how much they want for a room for a month with breakfast....low season I'd think 15k would more than do it....it is in North Pattaya in Soi 2...but close enough and far enough from the main night life area if you get my meaning. Enjoy.

Tony's Gym is on 3rd road at the top of Soi Lemkee ( I think I spotted it right) On Soi Lemkee there are plenty of guest houses and hotles. Hotel wise I recommend Opey De Place (B800 this time of year) and guesthouse wise Le Katay (B500) - given that I never use the pol Le Katay would be my choice ( steady lads that is the correct spelling!). Soi Lemkee is kitty corner to Soi Diana in central Pattaya, 10 minutes walk to the beach and 15-20 minutes walk to Walking Street).

Sorry, for interrupting, just want to correct your spelling of the street!
It's Soi Lengkee and it is the continuation of Soi Diana Inn(coming from second Road) once you cross Soi Bua Khao!
Lots of cheap accomodation in that area for 10000-15000 baht.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me as Steve Martin incorrectly used to say. Kitty corner means slightly adjacent to so the directions WERE correct. If we want to be pedantic (and U started it lolol) the spelling I have according to the Pattaya Nightlife Guide (Issue 5/07 pages 30 and 31) is Soi Buakhow.

Never mind the spelling of Soi Bua Khao as long the pronounciation is correct you can spell it how you like!
I just wanted to correct your spelling of Soi Lengkee as it didn't even match the pronounciation!
Go to Pattaya and tell any Thai taxidriver that you want to go to "Soi Lemkee" and I can assure you 99 of 100 has no clue of what you are talking about!

The baht buses continuously drive in a circular fashion north up the Beach Road and then South on the next road in, continuously connecting north and south Pattaya.
Just pay the driver 20 baht and jump into the back.
Pattaya City Thailand - Local Transportation
For a little luxury won't don't you try the Sea Orchid in South Pattaya (near the beach).
Rates are higher than your budget, but you can request their monthly rates.
This place is owned by the same people as the popular Areca Lodge.

It's the FAT in action.
10 baht for locals and 20 baht for farangs.
At least that's what happened to me last April.
Almost got into a dispute with the driver until it clicked I'd be arguing over 38 cents.
By the way I made a mistake in my earlier post. The Baht buses travel south along the beach road and north on the next main road in a circle, not the other way around. If their route covers your need they sure beat tuk tuks for value and safety.

In Nov/Dec it was still 10 baht. If you take a bahtbus a significant distance in both directions you pay double.

Good to know.
Last time I used one I paid before getting on.
The driver took the money.
Is South to Central a significant distance?

Nah, a definite 10 baht journey that one (say Soi 8 to Walking Street), only about a 5 minute trip... never had much trouble with the Baht buses in Pattaya but a good rule for newbies is only ever jump on one that already has passengers...Enjoy.

What not try staying in soi nern blab wahn just off sukhumvit road, some nice new apartment and houses down there for 6 k a month and its away from the madness. Expats call it the darkside.
Or if your feeling adventurous, near my house in Sattahip 40 km away, there are brand new 3 bedroom houses for 5k a month. I am sure the training would be cheaper, maybe you can join the army with training?

I would agree, buakhow and the small soi's off it, is one of the better areas to get cheap deals for long stays. Last one I rented worked out to 180 baht per day + electric bill to pay at the end, which wasn't much.
Here is a good example of the many bargains in those areas.
Parinya's apartment in soi Buakhao from south pattaya about 200 m. we have 25 rooms start at 7,000-8,000 baht per month fully furnished , air-con , TV , fridge , hot water , wifi extra 500 baht a month .In room safety box, key card and CCTV . good location . Daily , Weekly , Monthly

Yes no pool, I don't bother with a pool myself either but sometimes use the one on the roof of Mike Shopping mall for 70 baht a day.
