Weather in May
Hello all,
I usually visit LOS during high season, but I miss the place so much during the year that i've decided to go sometime towards the end of May. I understand that the weather can change quite a lot during this month...but...does it rain all the time or just in short spells. Are all the bars open, or do many of them close for low season.
Sorry it's such a boring question, but i just need to know what to expect.
And, just a quick thank you to everyone who supplied info about GF hotels etc last year, it really did help on our last trip.
Cheers
Ferris

All bars will be open. I was in Pattaya for a week in May last year. Didn't rain much but that might be a coincidence. VERY hot though. Close to 40C every day.

Ferris, it will be a bit hotter than in high season (Xmas/NY), it will be a bit cheaper and a bit quieter...though most times I can never spot the difference myself...been to Pattaya in most months of the year and never noticed much of a change in anything other than hotel costs.....rain tends to fall heavily for short periods rather than settle in and rain all day....it seldom interferes with your plans. Enjoy.

Can be depending where you go. But the last week of May of last year, I spend little time in Bangkok and just over a week up in Isaan and it was very hot indeed. Average day temperature of about 38 C. and hardly any rain.

I always reckon its hot in Thailand (probably my U.K. upbringing...555) but my g/f has told me for the last few days that its "velly cold in my house darling" (up north in Petchaboon) - so I take it from this that the temp has probably dropped to about 30degs C.........555555555555555

It's been the same in Phuket, many comments over the last 2 weeks "it's fooking freezing" 5555 The temp did drop below 30 for a short time, bit of a cool breeze passing through. In May like has been said you can expect 38 + degrees with occasional downpours. The rain is actually welcome as it gives a break from the heat.

Mine was also complaining about it being cold in the Udon Thani area. I could not resist laughing a bit and told her that it would be a good training camp for next month when she returns to Holland with me (provided the visa is granted).
When I asked her about the temperatures, she didn't really know. But when I check some weather website later that day, it mentioned daytime temp of about 27 C. However, nighttime temp was about 16 C. Then I can imagine, it could be cold for them.
On the other hand, today it is not too bad here. Late this morning it was about 11 C.

May is the last of the "build up" months in patts so can either be still dry but very hot and humid or can already be receiving heavy rain if it comes early.....having said that don't let the weather bother you....just enjoy the odd down poor hrer and there...it brings a nice relief

Don't worry Mate, as today it is back to normal... 8 C. raining and strong wind.
