hotel request: GF, great pool area, close 2 action...
The last 5 trips I have stayed at Sunshine Residence and Hotel on Soi 8. I like their pool, their policy of no joinerfee and close action to all the bars.
But I wonder if there is a better stay? I know I am acting like a n00b but there are a lot of hotels there. I know several great stays that has no pool.
What I am looking for is a hotel that caters to "my" preferences:
GF - must be very girlfriendly if I tire of frolicing on the beach one day. And also, rather strict on ID.
Pool area - no tiny roof pool and No "tub" (like flipper), but a real pool and a nice area where I can lie down and catch some rays. I hate the beach and the water.
Close to the action.. Since I walk alot.. It should be somewhat close to the action. And between the beach and 2nd rd.
I have gotten some tips for Sabai Lodge on Soi 2. Sunshine in Soi8 is also one. But is there a "better" place closer to "downtown".. in the pricerange of 1500-2200 ? Some mongrel must have some nice info..
Sorry.. but I feel the change is in the air, and would hate to find a nice hotel where it would cost me or deny me any female visitors in my room.

mate I stayed in the hotel section of Sunshine over the weekend only because I had to.....and I won't be doing it again....there are a ton of better places around...I found it quite dirty in fact
Areca Lodge on Soi Diana is way better as is the Pattaya Bay Resort

Dynasty Inn, Soi 13, Patts is also g/f with a pool and only 2 mins from the beach, 10 mins walk to 'Walking Street' and about 1 min walk to the Sportsmans Bar.
Very clean, decent sized rooms and pleasant reception - all for about 1200/1400baht p/n.

SABAI LODGE IS INDEED A GREAT HOTEL but its very pricey much better to do what i do and stay at their sister hotel the sabai inn which is directly accross the soi from it rooms there are 1050 bhat a night great rooms and of course you can use all the facilities at sabai lodge (4 swim pools) Sabai Inn - Cosy and Comfortable like home
also on soi 8 nearer the top of the road is the eastiny place hotel my friend stayed there in november the rooms looked good and it has a swim pool on the roof
flipper house and flipper lodge hotels at each end of soi 7 are also worth checking out i am staying at flipper lodge next trip rooms 1500 bhat a night again has swim pool on roof overlooking pattaya beach
