Pattaya without beer is just a ****hole
The title says it all from 6pm today till Sunday no alcohol for sale. And judging by the walk I just had it is being enforced Even the 7/11 shops have signs saying no alcohol for sale.

Can't disagree that Pattaya is a f***ed up sh*thole.
But I will hazard a guess that there will be bars open 'somewhere'. Not all of them conform to rules, especially those that are police owned.

I would never comment about Pattaya ,never having visited . But reading plenty of posts about it, has confirmed that it isn't the type of place for me. Basically, it sure isn't a family destination, so I have no interest in Pattaya at all.

I always go to pattaya after staying in Patong and think urrgh, but then after the first night i remember what great fun it is and i find it kinda addictive ....
Was there in december when there was a 3 day alcohol ban, we always managed to find somewhere to have a beer, mostly served in tea cups !

Depends where you stay at what you do. There are plenty of things to do outside pattaya but alot of people cant be bothered. Here are a few activities you can do..
go karting
shooting
elephant farm x 2
water park
aquarium
crocodile farm
pattaya extravaganza- massive show with elephants on stage
tiffany show
island trips
night fishing 12 hours 5000 baht
racing motorbike around a track
snake farm
golfing including golf ranges
There are plenty more things...

My friends are still drinking, heavens above are fully staffed still. People are just reducing the music and serving booze in cups. My friend is drinking out of a cup in a bar down walking street as we speak, they tell him 80 baht fine if he gets caught by the police. Anyway I will be going out tonight and I guarentee i will be pissed and laid by the end of tonight. I will go to naklua side if i need to, it tends to have different seasons over there, so it can be busy when pattaya isnt.

Yes very true, plenty of places will be open. Pattaya is a shit hole but you need to stay in the right area and do the right things, there are plenty of beautiful places if you drive out 10 minutes, try the dark side, I live in sattahip now and its very beautiful, if i need a lady then i can pop to pattaya to get one. Plenty of nice places are popping up, but you really have to pay for it.

I dont think that is true. This is how i am led to believe, the russians are sold package cheap holidays and they are promised a holiday to the beautiful thailand, they dont have a clue about pattaya. And they are put in three HUGE hotels "ambassador city" on the way to sattahip.. 25 minutes away from pattaya. Then they discover nothing around and make do with pattaya. I see them everyday trying to get home late, poor things.

Try it again, but do a little more research... some guys i know live right in the (best) dirtiest street.. soi 6. Some guys hate pattaya but like to party there, so they stay in jontiem... a family resort IMO and thats 5 minutes away.
I prefer to be in the mountains where it costs me 15,000 a month for a huge house and 2 rai of land.

yes and i find alot of guys are just sex tourists and I've met loads of guys who sit in bars complaining how shit the place is. I say get off your fecking **** and go somewhere, I always try and do new things, otherwise how will you know everywhere?
I find that no matter where you go, providing you have a cute lady, and some friends you'll have a great time!
I keep offering to have a party round my house, it would be great but its too much effort for people to get there.
One mate decided to come and i've been showing him around the thai bars, it might be a little dangerous and less talung... but its different so its interesting.

If many of those people complaining that Pattaya is a shit hole actually traveled just a minor distance then the scene and the scenery totally changes...point to point the length of Pattaya bay is approx the same as Patong (itself hardly a gleaming jewel, the mats layed out on bangla are not for comfort!)....go 5 or so miles from Patong and your in Kata or center of Phuket town....similarly in Pattaya travel 5 miles or so and your out by Lake Maprachan....10 miles away and theres lovely clean quiet beaches, nearly zero tourists....As ive said before on here, dont complain about Pattaya when all you see is the small bit you stay in...People talk about phuket in its entirety when comparing to Pattaya, but travel similar distances in and around Chonburi and it has loads to offer above and beyond WS.
p.s. Yes some places were open, Slim was due to its owners having "Friends" (some police even dropped by)...didn't leave there till 5am this morning.

while i agree with your point, Pattaya is easily twice the size of Patong.
And when the majority of visitors to Patts go for 2 things: Women and Beer and you take away one of them...

Dunno, while certainly Pattaya has a lot more depth to it due to not being contained by the sea on one side and a hill on the other, measuring the length of patong beach/bay via google earth get about 2.5 miles while from the dolphin roundabout on north road pattaya is like just pushing 2.7 miles to bali hai pier. (Im not including jomtien, naklua etc), and most guys will only stick next to WS and the length of beach road not go towards 3rd road, sukhumvit etc.
and yeh I fully understand why you would be upset if 1 of the 2 things you are looking for is removed, esp when its your holiday and a couple of days are lost, just trying to point out again that if you want something different from whats in pattaya itself you dont have to travel far or look hard to get it...
