Golf Caddies
Hello all,
Every time I go to LOS I take my golf clubs with me, I love the courses there and it’s great having a caddie drag your clubs around for you. Last time I played at the Phoenix GC just outside Pattaya. The caddie turned out to be a cracking looking woman about thirty five years old. Her English was ok, and I discovered that she had two children and divorced about three years ago. Any about half way around she gives me a smile, and asks if I am married, when I said no, she started to hold my hand as we walked up the tenth….
Has anyone ever had this kind of thing happen to them on the course? I was tempted to ask her out…do you think she might have been up for it…I don’t mean staying the night type of date, but it would have been nice to have taken out a real ‘thai woman’ if you know what I mean.
Cheers

I once gave a generous tip to my caddie, following a MTB Challenge at the Phuket Country Club. (she was a cutie, and...a great caddie)
She "shrieked" and said something like..."jai dee". 55555
Then she asked what hotel I was staying in (the other girls giggled). When I told her the hotel, she said "But what room?" (girls giggled more)
I'm sure that she was serious...but I didn't follow up. 55555

I've had asome great caddies over the years, one was just so cute, she always promised to come up to bangkok for a night out one time, but i never pushed it as I have no desire to get involved and she'd get the wrong mesage if I let her come.
But holding hands on the course is something that has happened many times, but the only thing I offer them is to use their services next time I play there, and often a decent tip.
I gave one girl 1000 THB on Mothers day last year as she was a mother. She was delighted, makes everyone happy in my book.

I've been playing golf in Thailand off and on for the last 15 years. Never had a caddie hold my hand.

Don't think all caddies are "proper" girls.... i know many that have an off course curriculum for earning "extra" cash.... I live in Kathu i know a lot of caddies !!!
The caddy holding your hand was no different to a waitress being attentive at your table. The better the service the bigger the tip....
In a nutshell, caddies are usually great fun on and off the course....some are little stunners some are old boilers...but her LOS smile is priceless having shanked one into the drink !!!!

Yeah, never thought about it like that, perhaps the holding hands thing is just like a a waitress giving you that little bit more attention...but still...it's hard not to fall for it.

Thai caddy's are great.
My last caddy at laguna was cute but married my friends and I ask for her number everytime.
This time my back was aching and she whipped out some tiger balm stuff and rubbed it on my back gave me a brief massage and it felt better....what service!
There is a very famous restaurantuer on the island who married his caddy she was from Blue Canyon.

What I want to know is there any form or etiquette in this dating caddy thingy?????
I mean you trudge around for x thousand of yards, every so often exerting yourself to nearly your maximum effort level, you are getting on great with your extrememly attractive caddy, making fun, laughing, not quite yet moving on to level 2 of hand holding when..............................
The foriegn guy you are playing with (possibly from Svenska), who by the way is shooting a 56 or so for the 9, then hits on ya gal, playing mock punching thingies, toe poking and generally smooth talking his way in, whilst also keeping his own caddybabe amused and coyly laughing at the same time, is this bad form? if you go for the quick route to stage two are you going to get a Mavockdown?? do you put up with it, just because he is a local bar owner and buys you a few little black drinks once a week?
Is there an acceptable level of behaviour expected or is it an all for one!!!

When I was working at Blue Canyon thee were a few cuties arond the caddy shack when they took off the sunhat and mask, some were rumoured to 'play around' after work. Being from the north end of the island they were enthusiastic amateurs as opposed to hardened BG types and probably a lot more fun. Unfortunatly, being a more moral person at the time, it was not worth crapping on my own doorstep and having a dabble- it would have compromised my position, pardon the pun.

Some of them are "fore" sure, cuties.
But, some old baggers also.
I love the way they read your putt, then point to the aim mark, with the flagpole. Sometimes adding "little bit up", or "little bit down". 55555
Most of them don't read the greens for shite, but they're fun to watch.
One young lady caddy at Mission Hills, had memorized a "hole description" in English...for every hole. Other than that, she spoke and understood NO English. 55555
She would say, "Hole #4...small dogleg right, and sand bunker right side over hill. Play to left and avoid bunker." I would ask how far is the bunker from the tee? Petrified stare ...she had no idea, what I was asking. 5555
But always good fun!

The first time I ever golfed in Thailand I think was at Lok Palm. I was met at the entrance by a total hotty who brought me around first to pay, then rent the clubs, to the pro shop etc. I'm thinking this is so cool. For some dumb reason (because she wasn't dressed for it) I kept thinking this was going to be my caddie. Then I was led out to the course where I had a much older lady for my caddie-still very nice though. I played very early with two Thai members and my guess from looking at their caddies was they got to choose theirs.

Don't know whether the photo is from the day of golf you explained in your post, but that is a picture of Phuket Country Club not Lock Palm...

Yep. Recognise the water (everywhere on the first three holes...and the mountain left and right on the tenth).
