After only being home for less than a month, I realized I must go back immedietly and am about to buy my ticket for trip 2. This time to Pattaya. I was in Phuket/ Patong last trip for those who didnt know. Why I chose Pattaya was based on meeting a cooworkers neibor that frequents pattaya. He was in Vietnam and meets his thai, and military friends once a year there. He is a really nice guy and will be going to Pattaya in Jan the same time as myself. He says that Pattaya is much more fun and cheaper than Phuket, so since I really want to see other parts of Thailand like Bangkok, I think this is shaping up nicely. I already found airfare for 1100, and a room at a place hes recomended for about 20,000baht for the month. Its an apartment and sounds nice. Anyway I look forward to now going through and reading all the info available here in the "pattaya" section.....cheers!

It is not surprising that you already is on your way back to LOS and testing out a new venue shall be interesting for you.

Not sure what time of the year you are going, but if low season 20k Baht seems a bit expensive, especially considering your fund deficiency on your last trip.

Pattaya Bay Resort for example offers 14K monthly rate (20k high season) and that is one of the nicer hotels.

thanks for pointing my fund deficiancy out!!!!! 555 I did make some mistakes on my last trip, but will learn by them and will prepare accordingly. I am not sure entirely of the particular hotel as it was suggested by a friend here in Salem. I will get the skinny in time. My friend suggests that I just show up. It will be in January...the 5th I think....and will be in the jomtien part of pattaya...that Im sure of...I think he was just guessing when he told me. However I will go for a month and I want my accomadations to be more spacious. This place my friend has in mind is an apartment with large spacious balcony, kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom......he says its nice and not too much money. I will bring 3 x the money as well. I dont want to piss anyone off this trip if I can help it

This place does look nice until you read the fine print. You have to fork over 10,000 baht as a security deposit...which is ok....but the place I found is a teansy bit more and no security...you pay at the start...then in 30 days drop off your key.....I found it by the way its view talay 3 & view talay 5...my friend says 5 is where to be at......However Mrdk If you have anymore info please pass it along as I am sure you have been to pattaya a few times and would love to hear some info from a veteran...

Pattaya Bay Resort was only an example. I have stayed there and it is a fine hotel. As far as location it is average, close to 2nd rd and the baht bus.

I have never stayed in Jomtien, but from what I hear (surely) a better beach and not too bad of a commute to the action in Pattaya. I believe the baht buses covers that too.

It is my understanding that Jomtien has its own bar scene, but by far the most of the action is in Pattaya.

I know several BM's have stayed in Jomtien (IJ included), but it is my understanding that most stay there mainly to kick back and certainly not for the action. On the other hand if your goal is to find a girl for a GFE, you may not find a better place.

I HAVE STAYED 2 TIMES IN JOMTIEN both times at the silversands resort hotel on beach road jomtien it has 2 large swim pools and is directly opposite the beach plenty of bars around the hotel (but none to compare with pattaya)

Turn up anywhere in LOS on the 5th of january without a booking and you'll be on the street or pay the highest of peak season rates....it is the peak of peak season in Phuket + Pattaya then MN....nd you will not be getting cheap deals....if you can wait another month or so your holiday wil cost a lot les allround..not juts on accommodation....in my experience Pattaya is a much better place outside of peak seasonmas well...

MadNomad have you tried the Pattaya forums , there are a couple of others out there that are a wealth of information, as they are devoted solely to Patts, as much as here is devoted to Phuket, I will keep my recomend SECRET but they are good.Have fun on your next trip. Sounds like your hooked.

If you can get that room for the price then book it asap, turning up and wondering around looking for a place is not much fun, and does not allow you to fully enjoy your trip over from home.

I live in Salem so as it being the Witch city, Im very busy from october through the holiday season. I look forward to my return to Thailand. It was soooo relaxing.
